My Dr. Kimmel experience

Post by Andrew (imported) »

Couldn't have been better or easier. I flew into Philadelphia on 17 January. On the morning of 18 January I had my scrotum removed. The operation was a breeze. Dr. Spector's former nurse, Ellie, was assisting Dr. Kimmel. Before my turn, a man had just been castrated. I had a talk with him and his wife while awaiting my turn, and both were quite pleased with the way the operation went, and with Dr. Kimmel's helpfullness and readiness to answer questions.

At 6 PM I needed a pain pill, and another at 11 PM. After that, I needed nothing, not even a Tylenol from the bottle Dr. Kimmel gave me.

Saturday morning we both returned for a checkup. Both of us were healing well. Dr. Kimmel uses stitches that will disolve by themselves in 4-6 week. Some minor blood seepage will occur, no big deal. We wear "swimmer supprters" with gauze bandages stuffed in.

Monday I flew back to LA. I am typing this Monday night. Dr.Kimmel wants me to take two weeks oiff from work to allow the healing to progress. There is some bruising that is causing ther penis to swell, it will go down as time passes. Again, routine.

Conclusion: He's EXCELLENT. I only wish he had done my castration 8 months ago instead of Dr. Spector.

Andrew,

Thanks for your good report on Dr. Kimmel. It is everything that I wanted and all that I hoped for. I will be seeing him next week for castration and scrotal removal. And good news, my wife will be with me.

Thanks again for your help,

Steve

Andrew-

Glad to hear the good news. Sounds like all went well. In a couple weeks you'll be nice and smooth. How wonderfully European!

Dr. Kimmel???? Man, I must have missed something along the way. I had heard that Spector was retiring, then I heard that he was NOT retiring but merely cutting 'way back on his activities. Has this Dr. Kimmel replaced Spector, or is he yet another option?

Oh, and congrats to both of you on your suggessful surgeries.:) 😲

OK, my apologies for not making this clear. Dr. Spector no longer does the surgeries. Period. Dr. Kimmel does. You go through Dr. Spector, who arranges the operation with Dr. Kimmel. You still go to Dr. Spector's web site at http://www.felixspector.com/ for contact information and registration forms.πŸ“– πŸ“–

So what is the background of Dr. Kimmel? I'm sure Doc Spector is knowledgeable, but as with all people getting on in years probably a bit unstable for this type of proceedure. I know people in my own family that age are still mentally competent, but just can't so what they used to.

I would assume Doc Kimmel is younger than Spector, and will hopefully be able to help out the community for years to come. Perhaps when I am ready he is who I will go to.

Hmmm, I didn't even think to ask. 40s? 50s? How important is it? Well, I suppose someone else can track down the information sooner or later, but not me.

As far as I can tell, he is a very competent, well established M.D. who specializes in Urology.

Dr. Kimmel's competency is a definate plus for me. Sounds like I might have to get off the fence. That is one of the things that has had me stalled... fear of not having a practioner that knows what they are doing.

Well, time to save up the bucks and go for it perhaps.
