Well we finally came up with a new poll for the main page! It was a close race between Erik, Androboy and Master Waddie, but the last screen I saw said that Master Waddie won. I hate to say this guys but latest poll idea is, in my humble opinion, poor.

It may help you over-worked site organisers to appreciate what we users appreciate but I would not have thought that it would really strike anyone's mind as being particularly interesting or worthy of a vote, given obvious runaway winner. It reminds me of a marketing questionnaire.

I may be judged wrong in my opinion but I thought that I'd still convey it!

I still think you're doing great jobs.

If you or any other member can come up with another related poll topic, please let us know. It should be something we've not already done. Barring the obvious, actually, I'm interested to see what comes in second.

I also enjoyed your latest story very much, reminds me of The Persian Boy with it's geography and history. A bit short for Part 1, though! Need some more, you know!

I hope that my criticism was taken in the manner that it was meant to be delivered (constructive), as otherwise I've little but praise for this marvellous site!

I did suggest elsewhere on the board a 'Golden Globe', or perhaps 'Orb' would be more appropriate, poll, i.e. categorised votes, not just relating to writers, as per recent ceremony & forthcoming 'Oscars', but perhaps too complicated on reflection (?).

Thanks for comments on 'Spartans'. Briefness of first chapters of both this tale & 'Todd II' was because I was setting scene &, hopefully for some, wetting appetite for more substantial fare to come.

I would not dare to try to emulate the great Mary Renault & the unparalled glory of her 'Persian Boy'! 'Spartans' is set 150 years earlier than the story of Bagoas. However, Susa, where the 'Persian Boy' was castrated, would be much the same at both times. Persepolis, another major Persian city of the period where Bagoas spent some time, was another matter during Lysander's life. My latest story will eventually reveal in what way!
