If you could only attend one day, as may be the case for me, what do would u choose?!

My work schedule is beyond comprehension right now, yet i cant stand the thought of not coming out to commune with everyone...

is there on day i should not miss?

Z both days are great so either would be fun. If you can swing it come in Friday evening for the wine and snacks get together at Jesus and Paolo's room and then off to the all you can eat restaurant. Saturday morning we head out to the MoM and start the day with a great breakfast. We spend the whole day together chatting and enjoying each other's company. Whichever day you choose you will have fun and be welcomed by friends. Looking forward to meeting you.

What Tugon said, Friday evening was great last year, we were in a private dining area but there was one other family wondering what strange people we were when Paolo pulled out his light saber and....... Saturday morning breakfast is a must, some old guy makes pancakes that are the best you have ever had, then the fun starts.

Just so I understand... This is mostly food related. right? 😄 I don't want to forget my lampshade...

Is the all you can eat thing going to be at the same restaurant? Or is this the animal roasting festival at Sister Ks?

I'm lost....

Oh, and I'm bringing some sundrop sodas so at least I can convert IE....

The ritual animal roasting and sacrificing will be Thursday evening at the convent.

Dinner at the Hog Trough (the same one) is planned for Friday evening, after hors d'ouvers (wine, cheese, etc.) at the hotel (Jesus' and Paolo's room). Thinking maybe I ought to call them and reserve the back room and give them a warning. (Nah, forget the warning - why ruin the surprise?)

Hope to see you at one or both!

Paolo wrote: Fri Jul 18, 2008 6:41 pm I wanna go eat at Dave-whatever's in the Mall of Doom. That was great.

I just double-checked the map of the Mall of Doom to be certain, Paolo. You are likely referring to Famous Dave's Barbeque. I do not believe you are a fan of the Mall of Doom. 😄 There is also a Famous Dave's within four miles of your hotel in Woodbury. Another very large one is located in Uptown in Minneapolis. There are lots of other local locations. So if you are out and about near lunch time, there is likely to be one close by.
Paolo wrote: Fri Jul 18, 2008 6:41 pm The guided tour was good too. Have to do that again. Other may not want to go on the tour with me and the Sister...do email if you don't know what I'm talking about. Others with more delicate sensibilities may be offended.

I may go on this as I have no sensibilities to offend! It is likely I have already been to most or all of the places on the tour.
Paolo wrote: Fri Jul 18, 2008 6:41 pm For those who need the exercise, there's always that nice "Uptown" place too. Hopefully the roads are paved now. I think Tugon will recall that.

[/B]

The roads were not paved?? :) We are not talking farm country here, Paolo.😄 Uptown is very gay-friendly with lots of unusual shops and businesses. Much of the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area is very welcoming of gays and even trans folk like me, of all things!

If you want exercise in the Uptown area but a bit of nature, too, there are nearby Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriett. Both are beautiful with lots of trees. Paved walking and separate biking paths circumvent the lakes. I may even bring out my rollerblades. Lake Calhoun is a favorite of mine because there is some very fine people watching to be had. Well, I am particularly attracted to some of the shirtless men who go by on bikes and skates. Of course, there are also scantily clad women about. I really don't need to have them around blocking the view.

At any rate, there are lots of things to do but limited time. Sounds like Sister K and other organizers have things well planned.

I was tempted to say I wanted to convert you (To drinking Sundrop) but was worried the Pope might intercept that message incorrectly and declare a holy war. Besides I'm not sure it can be safely mixed with Gin or Vodka. The ester of wood rosin might explode on contact!

BTW I have your card so I assume its ok to come over on Thursday. But ahh... I should probably call and bring (Other then Sundrop & the Lampshade)

BTW MR T vs Pope (What number are we up to?) this time its personal...

Since funds here are also in limited fashion I may arrive in my custom ahh... form of transport which I'm told looks like the Beverly Hillbillies Truck but not so nice...

The Mall of Doom <shudder> I'm afraid I can't do. Not without Prozac or some other serious form of mental health meds.... So, when we crash these hotel room(s) is this some form of Panty Raid? Will they be guarded by Light Sabers? And do you think I could order a Mr Spock Star Trek Phaser (type 2 of course) to arrive in time???

MoM: Calendar of Events

For those who are still making plans for the MoM, I thought that an approximate calendar of events would be helpful. Seeing the listing may entice a few additional folk to join with us as well.

Thursday, August 7

Some folk will probably be arriving very early for the festivities and for sightseeing in the general area. This would be a good day for a visit to the Mall of Death and/or to the Museum of Questionable Medical Devices. In the evening, Kristoff has offered the Convent for a ritual animal sacrifice and (hopefully not) burnt (but only cooked) offering. Wine and other libations will flow.

Friday, August 8

The majority of folk will probably arrive sometime on Friday. There will be a gathering in the motel room of Paolo & Jesus at 3:00 with ample wine, cheese, beer, soft drinks, and other snacks and goodies. We will adjourn from there to “The Hog Trough,” an all-you-can eat buffet with better than average food. Hopefully, we’ll get the “Banquet Room” again so that we don’t disturb the entire place with our Jollity and Frolicking. Last year there were miscellaneous small children trying to join in the fun and festivities with us. I think EVERY employee, from busboys to cooks to dishwashers, found an excuse to be in the room with us for part of the evening. They weren’t even frightened off when Paolo brandished his light saber or when we recreated DaVinci’s Last Supper with Jesus posed at the head table.

Saturday, August 9

The central day of the event will be ALL DAY (come and go as you wish) at the nearly adjacent homes of Talula and Riverwind. Last year the neighbor in the house between vacated and offered use of his connecting backyard for the gathering. There will be BBQ by Bobbie and lots of other food and drink during the day and evening. A great opportunity to talk, laugh, and hug.

Sunday, August 10

Back at Talula’s and Riverwind’s with River’s WORLD FAMOUS pancakes. Some folk will begin trickling home at various times during the day; others will stay over and leave on Monday. More laughing, talking, eating, drinking, and hugging.

OTHER:

Talula has produced a list of things to do in the area that will be sent to all who have confirmed their attendance with Bobbie. A note to Bobbie is also the way to get maps to Talula’s and River’s and to learn which motel the Friday wine + cheese will be held in.

Kristoff will be leading a tour of the local community, time to be decided.

Letter went out to all on the final mailing list for the event. If you are attending and did not get a letter please contact me ASAP.

This will be by far the largest MOM. We are adding many new people to the MOM this year.
