Dominique

Post by kristoff »

The Sister is looking for written lyrics to the song (mid-1960s hit), "Dominique." I do have the recorded song, but need the lyrics so that I can learn them for public performance (Oh Jeeeeeessssus God Help Us). Anyone know them or link to them?

Yoli to the rescue!

Here:

http://www.lyricsdownload.com/the-singi ... yrics.html

Just got back from a long day on the lake. Weather was cool, sky was blue, and the bass were fairly cooperative. Only had to use the tinkle can twice and my fishing partner respected my privacy. NO! I did NOT try to peek when he had to go.

He caught seven, including two weighing four pounds+. I caught eleven, with one making six pounds, three ounces on the digital scale.

So much for masculine superiority! Girls win again!

And now, if you don't mind, I'll enjoy a cocktail while my homemade Dove and Quail pot pie, made by Ash(leigh), that is, is baking. She makes them in deep 8" pans! Yum! I shot the birdies too!

Be sure and post your rendition of "Dommyneek" on YouTube! (God help us!)

Love,

Yoli

Have a great performance, and hopefully do record it for us on YouTube.

Be cautious not to confuse your guitar with your chainsaw. Play chords and cut cords with the right equipment.

Here is the version I know:

Dominique, nique, nique

I will tell of Dominique

His goodness to acclaim

And I pray the song I sing

Will some simple pleasure bring

That the world shall know his name!

I will tell of Dominique as I sing this little song

And when I sing the chorus all the world will sing along!

Dominique, nique, nique it was good Saint Dominique

He lived for you and me

From his labors long ago

Came a better world I know! And his love shall always be!

“Though I’m poor”, said Dominique as he spoke unto the Lord,

“I will be your humble servent and your love is my reward”!

Dominique, nique, nique I will follow Dominique

His burdens will I share

For his courage will I pray

His teachings to obey! His words shall be my prayer!

By the kindness of his heart and the labor of his hand

He brought love and understanding as he wandered through the land!

Dominique, nique, nique I will tell of Dominique

His goodness to acclaim

And I pray the song I sing

Will some simple pleasure bring! All the world shall know his name!

Dominique the mighty warrior was a soldier of ther Lord

His armor was devotion and the Gospel was his sword!

Dominique, nique, nique it was good Saint Dominique

He lived for you and me

From his labors long ago

Came a better world I know! And his love shall always be!

Through the blazing heat of summer and the chill of winter snow

I will follow Dominique! In his footsteps I will go!

Dominique, nique, nique I will follow Dominique

His burdens will I share

For his courage will I pray

His teachings to obey! His words shall be my prayer!

They are different lyrics here:

and the same lyrics with music here:

http://kids.niehs.nih.gov/lyrics/dominiq.htm

And a third translation here:

http://www.tommcmahon.net/2004/02/the_english_lyr.html

Apparently the original French version is stable but the English versions have different lyrics.

I do hope Sister K sings the song in French.

Gomez Adams and I would be thrilled.

From K's posts it seems the Sister is fluent, or at least conversant, in about a dozen languages. French is definitely a sensual favorite, although I can't speak it understandably.

I did, however, once cry "Oui, Oui, Oui" all the way home.

Before contemplating the implications of this thread, I don't believe I ever really understood the meaning of the phrase "the mind boggles"

I too pray you make a record of the event available. Could you maybe send a copy along to Fred Phelps.
