Both Wolves and Bears are far less of a threat to humans than the other way around. Wolves and bears tend to avoid people as much as they can and who can blame them. Most bear attacks happen when hikers surprise the bears. Bees kill more people each year than bears or wolves combined, and mosquitoes are even more dangerous than bees, and far more dangerous still, is commuting to and from work on our highways.

I quite agree, but it still doesn't explain why our primal reactions --- and our cultural treatment --- are so different for both animals.
