I do not understand your reason for keep changing from a high dose to a low dose and back to a high dose. Do not think that is all that good on your body. Why not just split the difference and stay at 100mg for two months and see how that works. You can not really get a good test drive with only a few weeks at a level.

From what I have read, it is my understanding that the high dose will block the testosterone and the lower dose will keep it blocked. (Maintenance Dosage) This time I think I went to the maintenance dose before the desired effects were achieved. So I am trying by going back on the high dose to get to where I want to be, then maintain that level with a dose of 50 a day. Two months into this and

I do not think you understand what maintenance dosage really is. Once you have achieved castration effects you will need to take a certain level of the drug. That level in your case is not 50 mg as you have found out. The maintenance level for everyone is different.

Lets say you are on 100mg for a month and still get some morning erections and still compelled to masturbate. But when you are on 150mg a day you do not have these effects then your maintenance level would be 150mg a day.

Maintenance level is the dose that works for you that will give the desired effect. You should not have to increase or decrease over a long periods of time. This is the ideal amount of the drug that will work day in and day out. You will not have to make any adjustments every month.

You should never have to go to 50mg at any time. I am guessing that either 100mg or 150mg is what you need to be on all the time to reach your desired effects and your correct maintentance level of the drug.

When I was preop I used to be on only 50mg a day and that was easily enough. It had quite a marked effect and if I had taken any more I would have been too tired to do anything, and probably become depressed as well. As with all medications effects vary. 50mg may be a low dose for many, but better to start low and then see if you need to build it up.

I found that my desired dosage of Androcur to be 150 mg. I have not had an erection in about two months. I am loving the effects of chemical castration. I do not feel a slave anymore to my previous oppressive male sexuality.

The advice on the Inhouse Pharmacy website (from whom I bought my cyproterone acetate) is to start on a low dose and increase it only if necessary. I wonder if people are just being impatient for a result. There does seem to be a delay. I started on 50mg daily but it didn't affect my erections straight away. I quit taking the drug after 8 days as I was experiencing hot flashes in the form of hot prickly legs at night and I couldn't stand the loss of sleep. Despite quitting the cyproterone, my erections diminished until I became impotent by about the 3rd or 4th week. After a couple more weeks I started getting morning erections again, but it was many months before I was back to 'normal'. If my reaction to the drug in my short trial was anything to go by, I'd be surprised if I'd need as much as 50mg as a maintenance dose.

I am a big guy, 6' 250 pounds and 50mg of Andocur is more then enough to keep me at a T-level of under 80. I have been going back and forth between using DP and Andocur and the Andocur by far works the best to reduce my T-levels, my last test on DP( 150mg per month) was 160 and Andocur (50mg per day) six months later was 79. Also my liver fuctions are fine.

The only problem I am having is my doctor wants me to start HRT to get my levels back to normal. But I keep on telling him I am fine with the way I am.

Doctors just can not get it. Some guys just do not want to have testosterone in there system. They keep wanting to put us on HRT. Many do not even care if it is male or female hormones, as long as we are on one or the other. I went through the same thing with two doctors. They just can not see that I am more happy without the testosterone. You just have to stand your ground. Being on chemical castration drugs will make it more difficult. Just hang in there and stand your ground. Wish you the best of luck

I had the very same thing like Riverwind.

Androcur is very very powerful. I feel one cannot stress enough the factor of time.

So, I think, for most of us a low dose of androcur will be perfect. Swinging the doses should be disencouraged.

I think I will try 100 a day and see if it is enough. Don't want to take any more than is needed.
