i was wondering if some of you who are on HRT sometimes take more or less testosterone.
I'll be honest i don't cheat on purpose, i sometimes forget to do my shot and i usually wait the week after to take it without put twice a much hormones in the serynge; i don't have hot flashes, got some difficulties to get a good erection and my mood drop the 5 under 0. I have never tried to take more than prescrib though. Is there really a possiblity of overdose? i mean beside seeing my back getting furrier!
Now that I am going back to the shots, I have been tempted to do a "cycle", where I would take steroid level doses of T for 12 weeks or so. But I don't primarily because I would go through way too much T way too fast, and I'd have quite the time explaining that to the doctor. There are some secondary concerns over health - although many risks of steroids are eliminated with lack of balls, many others still exist. The main advantage is that it is a lot simpler - no worries about PCT or any of that - you just go back to your normal dose at the end of a cycle.
There are risks to overdose, although they mostly occur with prolonged use. They include the standard risks of steroid use that don't have to do with balls such as acne, baldness, mood issues, liver damage, problems associated with E if E control is not used, and others.
Very extreme overdose could possibly trigger an acute cardiovascular event after a single use, but the dose used would have to be far beyond what even the most hardcore steroid users use.
Taking more than prescribed carries the risk of being cut off by your doctor if discovered. I am sure that if I were ever caught misusing T, my doctor would have no problems cutting me off immediately, balls or no balls.
As far as taking less goes, I think there are people here who take varying levels of T. It can have its benefits, such as getting to live both as a eunuch and a normal guy, and I have been tempted to try this as well. But with the long-acting nature of shots, I don't really find them conducive to varying your levels. I'd much rather use gel for that purpose, as you could change the dose by the day if you wanted.
If you double up on your HRT dosage and you are normally dosing fairly high you will not only drive your testosterone over the top but worse you will cause a spike in your estradiol (estrogen) which will shut you down sexually faster than the lower Testosterone level for a short period. I would be careful upsetting your balance by double dosing..
Oh boy, have I. On a number of occasions I've double dosed, taking as much as 400mg of testosterone on the same day, for a two-week stretch. For me, I actually didn't notice all that much difference from the regular (200mg) dosing. Although, due to differences in how the body processes testosterone, that may just be a personal thing. I don't normally have my estradiol levels tested or measured, but my guess would be that enough of the excess was converted over to mitigate the differences in dosing levels.
As to why I don't have my estradiol levels measured, it's simply because I have yet to find a Doc who acknowledges that such things are a problem. The last doc or two I've seen have strenuously maintained that any T conversion to E is not an issue, as the E would convert back to T once my T levels have dropped below 'normal'.
It's always been a temptation though, to really hike up the T levels and start working out regularly, in an attempt to cash in on any steroid-like effects HRT may have.
Strangely, I will note that at least for me there seems to be some connection between T levels and digestion. Namely, if I miss a shot, the next shot almost always seems to bring on the runs about 2-3 days later, when the shot starts to peak. I can't say if this holds for everyone, but it's pretty much clockwork for me. Perhaps some of the digestive fauna are at least somewhat sensitive to testosterone levels (or one of the byproducts)?
There is no overdose issues with testosterone shots. It is not liver toxic either. There are men who have used 1600mg/wk for 20 years straight. If you decide to take a couple of hundred mg per week of test, that is in no way an "overdose". This isn't heroin we are dealing with.
I use Androgel so changing dosage is simple. My prefered dose is much less than the prescribed dose which in turn is less than the standard dose for someone of my body mass (yes, body mass counts). I'm most comfortable at one-third to one sixth of the standard dose. This should be enough to counter osteoporosis and some other undesirable effects. I have tried all kinds of dosage (including much higher) but I particularly dislike the ones at my prescribed dose and greater. On any dosage I have less ability for erections and for orgasm than when I was carrying testicles around with me. A personal dislike is increased body hair, I had little body hair until I started HRT now I have more than I have any use for. At one time I was getting HRT by injection. I was unhappy with that method as there was a big difference between the days after injection and the days before injection. I could actually feel the difference in T levels almost from day to day. Yet, I was still most uncomfortable when T levels were higher. Now when I self administer Androgel I can keep in my comfort zone. --FLO--
well quite frankly yes, have backed off the androgel, many times, for me, theres a calm that settles in, till I go back to my normal dosage that , when I have had the blood tests, had around a 550 count on T what the doc told me, he even said of backing off when stress gets you wrapped up, and winding down, everyone is different, but so far this works for me , just fine
FWIW, had tests to see how low I go T wise without HRT,, in the 70s if memory serves right ,castrate level doc commented,so even though I still have one nut left, it doesnt do much,

200 mg/week is almost certainly not going to be a problem for anyone. I did that at one time, and the doctor who was giving me that was willing to go up to 600/week (that I was not comfortable with, however). But I think once you push above 200 a week on a regular basis (not on a cycle basis as with steroids), you are starting to ask for trouble. 200 a week would give the average man a T level of about 1000-1200. That is the high end of normal for a young man. Once you go above normal levels, you are putting the body into an unnatural and probably unhealthy state.
I would be interested in seeing anything you have on the guys who were doing 1600 mg/week for 20 years (presumably on a regular basis, not as cycles).
