taking estrogen?

Post by industry7 (imported) »

Now let's say that hypothetically, a guy got his hands on some estrogen cream. And I don't mean the fake plant estrogen creams but 15 mg of Natural USP Estrogen (in the form of Estriol) in each ounce kind.

I was wondering how much you think that would interfere with a guy's testosterone? Would it have any noticeable effects? I'm having a hard time finding something that sounds like it would have the right effects for me.

Without knowing what affects you are looking for, it will be hard to answer your question. However, just taking estrogen alone without an Anti-Andrgen, the results will typically be very minimal if at all. The Anti-Anrogen is what inhibits the Testosterone and minimizes it's production.

Hope this helps

actually it would act as an anti-androgen by antagonizing the T. Results would depend on the strength you used.

Estriol is the weakest of the three primary estrogens found in the human body, and therefore is unlikely to do much, especially in the face of high testosterone levels. But high doses might do something, so it probably cannot hurt to try.

That was basically the reason I picked out that particular cream, b/c it was the weakest type. Also it has progesterone, which in guys helps protect against the "negative" effects of estrogen (osteoperosis and estrogen sensative cancers). At least that's what I've heard. I'm going to try using this for a while, and see if anything happens, though I won't be expecting much. I'll come back in a couple weeks to report about whether I feel any different.

You'll feel different when you run out, INTENSE headaches!!

I've got a mild over the counter progesteroine cream I use.

I also take 2mg of estrofem daily.

The results on libido are minimal, maybe half depending on body chemistry?

I don't know if my lower libido is from the 3 times on T-blockers or just the E.

Last time I stopped all of the above my libido came back full force, so the E is definitely having a major effect..

plus my boobs are growing again....that's another side effect (one that I LOVE)...

So I've been thinking about it for the last 3 weeks-ish, and I think I want to try Androcur. I really need to lower my libido and this seems like the best way to do it. From what I've read here and on other websites about the drug, it seems that different individuals can need wildly different dosages for the same effect. So my plan would be to start off at 100mg/day for at least a couple of weeks and if after that I've seen a good drop in libido then I would slowly lower the dose and see if I can maintain the changes at a lower dose. If after a couple week I've seen no changes at all, then I would slowly lower the dose to nothing and discontinue use.

I've already been taking estrogen for about 3 weeks now, and I think it is having a small effect. I noticed this week that my nipples are larger and more relaxed most of the time, which I've heard would be a sign that my estrogen is up and my T is down. I think since I've already been taking estrogen, that would help the Androcur to be more effective.

So my overall basically reasoning here is that if it turns out that I'm one of the people that Androcur works well for at a low dosage, then it would be perfect for me. But if I'm one of those people that doesn't respond well to it and would need a high dose, then to me it's not worth the risks and I'd stop using it. Even in that case though, there's still the option of trying to get my doctor on board for this so I can have blood work done.

So my question to everyone here is, am I totally off base here? I keep going over this in my head and I want to make sure that I'm not about to do something incredibly dumb, but just somehow managed to rationalize it to myself. Also, I'm not at all worried about this being a huge waste of money. I waste way more money on far more frivolous things. Also, in the case that this works better than I expect, the possibility of feminizing effects, sterility, impotence, etc. don't bother me. Also, the possibility of it not being 100% reversible is not a problem.

Not to scare you but I would strongly suggest speaking to a Doctor about using any hormones. If your going to do it yourself at least let your GP monitor you to see that your not taking wildy insane amounts or that its doing a number on your liver etc.

If you have issues with gender going to a doctor and doing it through them will get you to where you want to go faster.

If you don't have any issues with being male I would maybe rethink dabbling with estrogen. I think from all accounts its a very addictive thing and if your not ready for your body (and mind) to change? Best not to start with it in the first place.
