Healing Times

For those of you who have been surgically castrated, how long is the healing time? For example is there pain for two weeks afterward , or maybe a month? I know some here have done a very dangerous band and slice. i would never do that , but how long did those who castrated themselves by this method take to heal completely.. how long were you in pain ?

I was surgically castrated, the Dr. going through the inguinal canal each time. I used only one of the high powered pain pilles he prescribed the first time. After that, I only used Ibuprophen (the generic variety) for only about three days. And when I took the pills, I only took 600 mg at a time and only about three times a day. I didn't really have any pain or discomfort. Incidentally, for the second surgery, he used medical superglue on the incision. Worked great.

I was lucky enough to be castrated and have my scrotum removed by one of the top surgeons in the country, that does this sort of thing. Since my scrotum was removed, leaving nowhere for the fluids to go, I had a drain in place for 4 days. I had very little pain from the whole surgery, it was more of a dull ache for a couple days. I also had very little bruising and almost no swelling. I did use an ice pack, on and off , for a couple days also. I think that the amount of pain and trauma a person has is dependent on the skill of the surgeon. Like I have always said here on EA, you get what you pay for. I was back driving trains in 12 days and had no discomfort at all. What I spent in a quality surgeon, I gained back in healing quickly and being able to get back to work.

There is that small possibility of getting a hernia so that there should be absolutely no heavy lifting for a couple of months. Other than that I was back on my feet by the next week. But the more that you are resting and idle with your feet raised up the faster you will heal. And for me the incision had to be dressed, kept clean and bandaged on a regular basis for a few months (kind of every day for the first month, every few days for the next month and once a week thereafter). My incision did open up on me from being careless, so be careful and don't climb for anything at home even.

I used an elastrator to remove my balls and scrotum. Apart from sharp pain for an hour or so (pain much reduced by using Emla cream which can be obtained from bme shop) there wasn't any real pain after testes and scrotum were cut off. I had some discomfort and mild bleeding for about 14 days but the body is an incredible machine and now all I have to show for my castration is a small scar. I have posted vids of my neutering on bmevideo.

I just had mine re-done 18 days ago. i kept picking up heavy crap less than a week after my last surgery to remove the cords which is basically the same surgery as castration, now im paying the price, i pulled something, and it HURT, and is hurting most when i try to sleep. I also have prior injuries in mass to the area and have triggered a bladder locking reaction, requiring me to keep a Foley in pretty much all the time, expected to die down over the next month, i hope..

(ive had an entire urethral reconstruction from the prenanel area to the base of the penis, i was a kid and didn't "want to have to pee like a girl" so they redid the urethra between that area and my penis, basically the entire urethra that goes though the scrotum, after a major injury involving a major impact ot the area, it would have been simpler to have a reroute and less hospital time but i wanted it fixed & my mom had heavy influence in the hospital as our uncle was on the board of directors, she worked as a Sr RN to a Sr doctor.. so the head urologist did the "impossible" and it worked, with 4 weeks in the hospital and a temp reroute cath then reconnection and cath while that healed...)

Its hard to "know" that anyone has done anything. This IS the internet where BS rules... However I had two inguinal Orchiectomies (Left and Right) and the first one required ice, Vicodin for less then a week and a couple of months for all the oddness, numbness bumps on the inguinal incision etc to go away. The second one I can tell you the incision pain was more like being "sore" not serious pain but I did use narcotics for about a week again and lots of ice. It took a couple of weeks before I could try having sex again. So thats probably a good lenght of time to recover enough to go back to work. 6 weeks before heavy lifting and months for the incision, numbness etc to go away. I would suggest that anyone doing it themselves is in serious need of help.

For me I was comfortable after a few days and then along came a hospital related infection which laid me up for another month. The castration wasn't nearly as much of a problem as was the later infection. --FLO--

The one thing that I learned was to keep the ice on it 24/7. As long as there was ice on my incision area, there was no pain. I took no pain medication. But let the ice melt and the pain came. Finally about the seventh day, Bobbie and Luvpain99 both forced me to stop the ice bag routine. And as a result, I had use a little bit of Tylenol for a couple of days. I healed faily quickly too.
