Doctors tend to believe that what they learned in medical school 30 plus years ago is all they ever need to know. They fail to keep up-to-date on new and innovative treatments like Arimidex for gyno. Arimidex is being used by a lot of doctors these days to keep E levels down in men, and it is also commonly used by bodybuilders to reduce E conversion and prevent gyno.

All you can do is bring in paperwork for your doctor on Arimidex and try to educate her. If that doesn't work, you can try finding a doctor who will listen. If you can't, then those who are comfortable and willing have the option of using Arimidex on their own. But you don't need much of it - a month's worth will last you a long time, making the cost not as bad as it seems.

I did bring in what I found on Arimidex. Her comment and I think its good is that its never been studied for this use. Never been studied for use in men and in the end she said there may well be people more expert in this who would prescribe if for me but she could not feeling that it might be unsafe for me. So.... I've had those experiences with the bad doctors. One told me my low T was "fine" and when I asked him about modern treatment standards he became offended. Said my Doctor was really on the edge *She is REALLY not... I'm tempted to try it and see how I feel prescription or not but I'm leaning on not because I really don't want to hurt myself or goof up my doctor patient relationship. And I don't want to go outside to a new Doctor and find another "expert" who will screw me up for months.

Damned if you do and damned if you don't...

These Pure Essence Labs 'Energy Plus' pills really give me a nice kick on energy without any stimulants or leaving me feeling high. Too bad the stuff is so expensive. :) It does seem to work really well for me though.

Random notes on HRT that might or might not help.

In my experience with testosterone, libido tends to max out at about 200-300 mg test enanthate a week. HRT doses are fine at 100mg EW, but you might as well get your own bloodwork done to show where the free test ends up at that dose. You may need more or less to get it where you want. Otherwise, you also need to evaluate the various estrogens. it is about getting as close of a match as you can to where you were before you had low test. I absolutely always inject twice a week when I use it to keep blood levels stable. Mood also seems to be great at 100mg+.

One protocol (Swale's) for HRT uses HCG at roughly 250IU's every three days or so (i think that is about right). He also tends to use an AI of some kind to reduce estrogen. I'd look into exemestane, or an AI that is not harsh on HDL levels like arimidex (anastrozole or liquidex are the same thing) can be.

Estrogen will get pretty high as you inject more test. That is one thing that helps mood so much imo. Both test and e are high

My Endocrinologist wants me to try a small dose of testosterone, for health reasons. He is hopeful that we can find a level that will be good for me and not cause me to go crazy wanting to be a woman. I don't have any of those feelings without the T. So a couple days ago I started rubbing in 2 pumps, which gives me 2.5g of Androgel a day. This is half the normal low dose. Hopefully this works. One neat thing about the Androgel is that my insurance pays for most of it. It cost me $20 for a 6 month supply at the dose I'm taking. That's way cheaper than the shots. I just hope I don't get the skin reaction that some have talked about.

I'm puzzled why not Estrogen instead of Testosterone? I've been pondering on the forum the folks who feel transgendered but stop at Female HRT and Orchiectomy as the end point of their transition. Is this not a more proper solution then low levels of testosterone? Or is the Endo trying to "cure" you??? Or is this pressure from your family? Sending you my best wishes as always...

After being off the T for 3 months, I actually felt pretty good, except for being a little tired. I also lost the urge to be a woman. I think that taking everything into consideration, it's better that I stay a man. I told the Endo what was happening with me and told him I really didn't want to become a woman. He took a lot of blood tests and found that everything was within normal limits. My T was at 119 and I'm sure has dropped more since then. He thought that if I can tolerate the low dose of T without going crazy, it would be better for my overall health. I've been 4 days on the Androgel and I feel pretty good so far.
