I think I've taken my last "T" shot.

Post by Hairless (imported) »

I got my last shot of testosterone on Oct. 19 and don't plan on any more. I am going to see an Endocrinologist on Dec.7 to see if he can come up with a plan to help me. I am starting to feel more tired and was wondering how much worse it can get in 3 weeks? How long does it take for the hot flashes to start? If he starts me on estrogen, what can I expect as far as energy is concerned? I'm walking 2 miles every day for my back and I get really tired in the afternoon. Is there something I can take that will increase energy. Thanks for any advice, Steve

How much T were you taking, and how often? I suffer from low T and do 100mg a week of Testosterone Enathanate.

I also utilize the Yahoo group http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/hypogonadism2/ which deals with low T issues and symptoms. I don't believe there are anything Eunuch related there however...

Not on the topic of hormones, but do you have any sensitivity, or consume a lot of food with an additive that you might react to?

Since I started eating only fresh food, with very few exceptions, and watching what I eat, I have much more energy than ever before.

I also take a B-complex+C vitamin every morning.

Of course, I think a LOT of my problem was with high blood sugar, but just a suggestion.

I've been getting really tired in the evenings lately and just started taking vitamin B-12. It has really seamed to make a difference. Good luck!

I was on 300mg Testosterone cypionate IM every 3 weeks. I would get very frequent nocturnal erections. My penis use to get very flaccid, but now I have a shower instead of a grower. My last shot was 150mg. That cut the nightly erections way down. It's now been 4 weeks since my last shot and I still get morning wood. My natural level before castration lab tests showed my T level was about 130 and everything worked at that. MRT has a graph that shows T levels over a 2 week period of time at different amounts. It's an Excel file. If you would like a copy, PM me with your e-mail address and I can send you one.

Thanks, but I'm happy on the TRT I'm currently on. It appears that 100mg per week vs 300mg per week is the preferred method as there is what is known as the roller coaster effect. You'll feel great for however long after you shot, but then towards the end of the 3 week period before your next one you start to feel like shit, rundown, fog brained. Doing it once a week seems to be a lot easier on the system. It also affects how much of the T gets converted into E2 (estradiol). If the erections are too frequent you might only want to do 80mg a week or some other adjustment. If you are not getting wood after the shots it may be because the estradiol in your system is too high. Here is a good link: http://www.allthingsmale.com and read TRT: A recipe for success.

That's what everyone keeps telling me, but I never felt any different over the course of the three weeks. I do think I did get the Estrodiol effect as I now have A cup boobs.

I do eat a pretty healthy diet. Lots of vegetables. I also take a "Super Nutrition, simply one for men", multi vitamin once a day and a 500mg vitamin C twice a day. No body sells anything labeled for Eunuchs or for TG people. Is there some point one should start taking a women's formula instead of a man's? I also take Exoprin for my bones. I was taking more stuff, but had to stop them because of my back surgery. I should probably be able to start again before long. I'm about 3 months post-op. I guess that's more stuff I can talk to the endocrinologist about.

Hormones play a big part in our energy and how we feel overall, although some people are a lot more sensitive to these effects of hormones than others. Even if you are exercising and eating right and even taking supplemnents, you might not be feeling so great if your hormones are off and you are one of those susceptible to changes in energy as a result of that.

There are a few hormone related supplements that might actually help, one of the big ones being DHEA. Earlier this year I had heard they were going to make it a controlled substance, so I backed off on getting attached to it. But don't know whatever happened to that, so it might be an option to consider. I might even consider it to see if it gives me a subtle boost in T.

If you are willing go with E, it should give you some of your energy back, although probably not as much as you had with the T. Both E and T have somewhat similar effects as far as energy and well-being are concerned.

Not everyone gets hot flashes at all - I went up to 3 months with no hormones and never had a single one. Possibly not long enough, but most I have heard from seem to start having them before then.

I take a 1/4 tablet of Arimidex a few times a week to keep the E in check. It prevents the aromtasing(sp) of T into E. If you E is high, that would cause more fat around the waist and chest/boobs. Ask your doctor to test your Estadiol (ask for the Estradiol Sensitive test as that is for men).

Of course without taking any T long enough, I'm not sure what happens to your E levels.

Good Luck
