Because an orchiectomy done via the scrotum necessarily leaves the spermatic cords in. Essentially they dangle down from the abdominal cavity into the inguinal canal, where they sometimes attach themselves to other areas (i.e., the side of the canal). They can later cause pain when pulled, or contracting, or whatever. Orchiectomy done via the lower abdomen pulls the testicles up through the canal for removal, and the cord is ligated back to its source - ergo no later pulling cords...

all is good, i am to be discharged today. had a scare where my iv line had came apart and i was laying in a small pool of blood & IV Fluid today, but othrteise ok.

Mismatched is a special case but many surgeons do a "scrotal" orchiectomy where they leave in most of the cords. Cancer patients always have an inguinal orchiectomy where they make two 3 inch incisions in the groin area (In the pubic hair area) and they fish the Testicles up and out without cutting the scrotum. Then they are easily able to remove the cords in a much more complete fashion. Chronic Pain patients also have the cords removed because this increases the chance that the surgery will cure the pains.

They can remove cords laproscopically also.

several things h have re-learned about hospitals, the suck ass and dont give a fuck about you.

Some Nurses care about the patient and will go the last mile to help, this this event, other male nurses were the most sympathetic , while others dont give a shit f you if ur

dead. These bad nurses aways wind up on your discharge team.

You often dont recall shit from post op. They had given me a drug to MAKE me forget everything from surgery on, come on!

You try to tell people this, they dont care and wont help.

I has a drain in me i didn't know about. I wasn't supposed to go to to the bathroom, how did i know this??? no. I tried, in my still fazy, got to the bathroom all my surgical

dressing drops out and the drain is draining. I hit the call button imminently and tried to say what happened, yet literally got yelled at by the nurses and on physically push ed

me into the shower, I dont know why, they didn't clean, they didn't change my dressing. Like is my fault i didn't know all the stuff and tube was in me.

I tell the nurse, I got o pee, she says, no, that just surgical presume, you ll be able to pee in a while when you have real stuff in you system.

5 or so hours im in agony and still cant go. Nurse finally cath me, i had so much in me they had to clamp one of the big 2qt round bags and replace it.

now, understand I hate caths so much, I had an injury as a child and destroyed most of my natural urethral system and it ha to be rebuilt had to have dozens of them, often

indwelling, often put in nurses who didn't know what the fuck they were doing.

Pain control. The hospital doesn't give a rats ass about if your in agony. I just had what were left of my nuts cut, basically ex rest of the exact same chords and . ITS GOIGN TO

HURT!

Nurses and doctors hate smart patients. When they were giving me insufficient pain control, i pulled up the product info sheet on the drug, it basically said they were und doseing me. they entirely disregarded what it sat "cause they know better"

The only way i got out of the zone of agony was i had my mom bring my pain meds that my pain management DR had assigned, and took enough optoma 40 and Dilaudid 8-12my own that ***PAIN MANAGEMENT DOCTOR HAD PRESCBRIBED ME*** for post operative of pain. kept them hidden in my laptop bag. I tried to do it the proper way, I poured half of the optima bottle into another and wrote 30 around the 60 like some harm had made and error. BUT, but refused to dispense my medicine to me, AT all. I requested a consult with their pain management doctor and he basically believed i should be on Tylenol or Advil or darvacet (which is on my allergy list because it makes me hurl). I told him to fuck off (prob not the be choice of words) and had his recommendations stricken from my record along with his RX. A right i found out once in the hospital because some total ASS HOLE of a doctor making fun of my heard of hearing.

The rest of the time is spent with the total neglect of the nurses EXCEPT my pain med which i had set up my black berry up for my 3 hour (took another hour to actually get it) 4mg dilaudid injection which i demanded and if didn't get went ot the head nurse and then the hospital admin, and another 4mg of oral dilaudid, paired with this i 1mg xanax to keep me knocked out so i didnt know this hell hole was in.

when i was discharged, they tried to keep my legally prescribed medicine and would not return it after some admin call we to them The hospital refused Gauss to pack my wounds like is normal. well they gave me that but they wouldn't give me additional supporters. just the very nasty (By then) on I got in OR. Likely it doesn't seem to matter, since I have nothing hanging down, this seems ot be no problem.

I hate hospitals.
