With all do respect, I hear folks condemn moveon.org all the time but they never seem to go beyond the name calling to explain the basis of their hatred of this group. Do people hate them because they are perceived as liberals, left wing, or perhaps using unfair tactics.
I don't hate moveon.org. I see them as just another politically active group on the landscape of American politics. Like every other group they do their best to influence the politicians in Washington and elsewhere. They hold vigils, send out petitions, and use political advertising which isn't always accurate. Then again when has political advertising been accurate?
Moveon.org is in fact not unlike the Jerry Fallwell's Moral Majority which morphed ( I wanted to say evolved... ) into the mode of right wing politics we know today where the Republican party has essentially adopted the Righting fundamentalist agenda as a plank in the party. Considering how successful that marriage has been it was only a matter of time before it would be answered. So if it wasn't moveon.org it would be some other group.
So the final question is what bothers you so much about moveon.org? Is it their tactics or their political agenda? If that is a false dichotomy, feel free answer the question how you want.
