Re: what sort of pain relife is there for cutting
Quite honestly, the best pain relief you can get is NOT TO DO IT YOURSELF.
There is NO safe way to do this yourself, espeically if you don't have the medical knowledge, anatomical knowledge, know how to suture, dissect, have medical supplies including clamps, know how to deal with bleeders, and on and on and on.
I mean no offence, but if you don't know enough to know what the good anesthetics are, you more than likely don't know enough to pull it off without landing yourself in the ER.

I totally agree with IE, even for the educated, there are often physical differences that can cause problems. I don't want to go into my story but suffice to say, even with LOTS of experience in the procedure, i had trouble, and had to go to the ER. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! Dr kimmel will do it almost at the drop of a hat and charges a small fee for his service, it is well worth it. He will be back in his office next week and you can call him about it:

Dr kimmel is in Philadelphia, PA. Lots of members here have had him do it. just use the search function and you will find lots of references. He will do it on an elective basis for transgender, libido, religous, or whatever reason you have and you just need to know that its a perm non-reversible thing that will sterilize you and remove your source of hormones before he will do it, you will sign a paper saying you understand this. He charges $2000 and is well worth it, i should have just gone to him but i didnt and regreted it. He will also do a scrotal removal for an additional $1300. He is a older doctor and only accepts a certified check, money order, or bank check.

And what's wrong with waiting a year, or doing chemical castration for a year first?
You're 25, according to your profile. You have the rest of your life in front of you. A year on chem cast to 'test-drive' it and be sure it's what you really want isn't a bad thing. If you've wanted it this long, another year isn't going to stop you.
Have you read up on the side effects at all? Looked through some of the various stories on here, both positive and negative to see what things may be like for you? Would you be ok with a worst-case scenario where you get a large number of the downsides?
