Final phase of healing
Well, it has been a month and a half since my orchiectomy. As of yet I have never experienced any hot flashes whatsoever. And whereas my testicle cords did seem to have healed a little more quickly than normal, my incision didn't seem to. But I now have no more bleeding. But at this point I am still using bandages and a little first aid cream every few days. I did reshave around the bandage a half week ago and yesterday I shaved around the incision very carefully but not meticulously. Climbing into a hot tub or going to the hot springs is still out of the question. And I have not bothered to put any air into my bicycle tires which are still flat. Plus my jogging shoes also haven't been worn for a while too. And then there are those trails which for all I know are going entirely unused.

I used Mederma on the incision *Everytime I use the Bathroom. And it seems to have sped my healing time AND made the scar less scar like. Its not cheap but worth every cent.

The greatest joy for me when fully healed was being able to soak in the tub. I was glad that I could stop using dressings to absorb the drainage. I was always afraid I would leak thru and someone would ask what was on my white scrub pants.

You will feel great after you are fully healed. My only regret was that i waited so long. i never really had problems with hot flashes. i did have an immediate depo-provera injection following my castration, but that was to lower my T-count quicker, not for TS reasons. i may have been so excited to have an empty scrotum, that i wouldn't have noticed the hot flashes anyway.

Re: Final phase of healing
I think I may have had a few very minor hot flashes but nothing anywhere close to what I experienced at times before the orchiectomy (I've had them since my twenties about once a year). I have never taken hormones of any type except when a doctor gave me something for tendonitis which in hindsight may have brought about one of my hot flashes later on when that effect wore off. I did find some Mederma (for kids that stays purple until dry) and now wear a bandaid before I go to work only as a precaution. But I still don't feel confident enough to jump up and do the splits touching my toes in mid air as I had done the day before the sugery. Actually most of the problem of my delayed healing time may be due to the fact that I keep forgetting not to do any type of climbing or stretching out my legs which I tend to do very naturally.

dev,
I'd like to hear more about your surgery. How did you get the doctor to do it, what was it like? Can you describe the operation? etc.

Re: Final phase of healing
Well, it has been almost three months now since I went up to Dr. K and I am just about all healed up. (If I had have been able to stay in bed all the time it might have only taken just two months.) I have never had any hot flashes since my procedure (probably because my almonds had never done hardly anything afterall) nor have I ever felt depressed and in fact I absolutely feel my own usual self. But however I do feel a lot less limber due to less activity. So obviously I need to get dancing somewhere.
