Re: Re: Gender Nuetral Bathrooms
The concept of a "family restroom" always mystifies me. The Wal-Marts here have them. I just can't talk ANY of the boys into looking in there with me...nor their mothers, for that matter. I think the idea of a "family toidey time" frightens them all?!

All that is required would be individual stalls with adequate walls for privacy. If urinals are included they should also be enclosed in private stalls however there would be no need for them. This would also apply to public showers. There is absolutely no need for gender segregation.
Such facilities would result in a large cost saving by eliminating duplication. It would also eliminate the bias which allows women to use the men's restroom but prevents men from using the women's restroon.
Here where I live the state provides wonderfull and clean highway rest stops. They encourage drivers to take a break as to avoid accidents (on the road and in thier pants). Several years ago they began to modify the stall walls(at least in the men's rooms) because of indecent behaivior. It seems men in the area were using them as a rendevous location then pairing up. They would then get it on in the stalls. The state police set up a sting operation and arrested quite a few for lewd acts in a public restroom. Now the stalls have half walls; only enough to cover you below the shoulders when sitting. This was their answer to "glory holes" and other complaints.
I would think the highway department and the police would have better things to do, like chasing crack dealers and bank robbers. Not to mention the loss of some great reading material.
I once read ao a stall wall " Sit down, relax and get a load off your mind."

The infamous "pickle park" here near Indianapolis was the location of such a sting operation not long ago. They busted all kinds of "important" people. It's a nice place, but not somewhere I'd stop after dark with the family. Not that I have anything against someone having a good time...but good grief...rendezvous then go get a room somewhere...
