Re: Unfair Labor Practices!!!
Now, how about that lady that you were trying to recruit. The one you met out on the lake. She was part of two couples that happened across you. I've been stuck for a bit in the boonies at 4000 m. with no internet, so maybe I missed something. How's recruiting her going? Any progress getting the guy on the boat that developed a bit of a boner?

A-Nights,
Here it is, the fourth day of a comp time long weekend, and I've been awake since 4AM! Took a skinny dip, a potty break, drank too much coffee, and had a nice b'fast of Press-One-For-English Muffins, Eggs (poached), Canadian Bacon, Texas Ruby Red grapefruit juice, and a cinnamon/pecan roll...burp...then showered.
So, here I am, all bright-tailed and bushy-eyed. So soon as I post this, I'm gonna turn the AC to MaxiFreeze and sneak into Ash(leigh)'s bed and drift off in a "spoon" position.
Well, anyway...
The lady to whom you refer, *Marlene, has visited us perhaps four times since my last mention of her. On one visit she was a guest at a meeting of the Kastration Koven. She did OK with that, but was obviously amazed by the whole thing. She was full of questions and wonder, but was excited. It remains to be seen if she'll maintain interest or just get a few kicks and move on, but she did mention a couple of "candidates", one her ex-spouse, the other a relative (we did not ask, she did not tell.)
I have since spent another weekend as her guest, at a lake house at Lake Travis (I HATE that lake.) We had a great time together without ever risking life and limb on the water. We discovered that we like cooking together, drinking together, and "other stuff" together (again.)
The other gentleman, "Boney", told her that seeing Barry DID turn him on. Turns out the guy is a practicing ten-speed bisexual, so I can understand.
It's important that all here realize that Barry is NOT "property".
Once the weather cools and the lake is less full of idiots (See: YooTee kids with jet skis and ski boats) we may have a long weekend there. The plan is to invite Barry so she can have some up-close-and-personal time with a true eunuch. I've discussed this with him and he's apparently willing to be "examined and field-tested" by her so long as I'm present (Ohhhhhh, yeahhhhh!)
He's, first and foremost, a very close friend who just happens to have been castrated and is very much at ease with his status. I cannot, nor would I, "farm him out" for the amusement of others.
Anyway, the nice lady has proven that she's OK in every way, at least so far, and a nice friendship is developing. Ash(leigh) has expressed total approval of my engaging in a little girl-girl fun with her and it in no way affects the deep and rich relationship Ash and I share. Ash is so much a big sister as she is a lover and I'm lucky to have had her in my life these several years. So, let's just say that there's no one in my life who will ever replace her.
The Austin lady is a hoot, but there will always be a limit to that relationship.
Love to any and all,
Yoli
*Fascinating Factoid: Her true first name is Lili! Lili Marlene! Named for the famous old German Army song that I've learned was so popular with both German and British soldiers in World War Two. Her (Great?)Grandfather was a soldier in the German Army! (G?)GPop was no Nazi. He was nearly murdered by his commander, a hard-core Nazi, just before he managed to find an American unit and surrender. (Amazing what one can learn on the 'net!)
Here's a treat. Several versions; Really touching and "let's all march around a little". Marlene sent me the lynx. I got all teary-eyed 'cause it makes me think of BigGuy leading his Cavalry Troop (tanks, they ran out of horses,) into battle back during Desert Storm (before I met him and WOBG.) I've seen his videos and still shots and they are terrifying...the vids are loud too!

Oh, how I do digress!

Re: Unfair Labor Practices!!!
The whole incident serves as an illustration, Yoli, that, no matter how much the firm pays you, as long as you don't have an LLD, your bosses at the workplace will always think of you as a kind of golden go-fer. (No slight on the great state of Minnesota.) If you're in your early thirties, then you have another three decades of blood and sweat, toil and tears, ahead, until you get to retirement age. It would probably be worth it to you, to take three years or so off, live frugally and study hard, and get the degree. My niece got her law degree three months ago, passed the bar exam this summer, and starts next week at the law firm where she interned, for a cool $12,000 a month salary. If and when she becomes a partner, her yearly income would be in the area of a million dollars. About what her father makes in another industry, but it took him thirty-five years to get to that level. She should make partner in less than ten years. I'd guess you have some idea how much the partners are paid at the firm where you work. Doesn't take much brains to be a successful lawyer--you just have to know a few things that the man on the street doesn't.

T...
Yoli at the keyboard!
Beau,
Your points are well-taken...but...
I don't want, and have never wanted, to be an attorney.
Moreover, I detest the courtroom...can you say boring?
I'm not involved with Criminal Law so there's no excitement to be had in the courtroom.
I have a tremendous degree of latitude as to where and how I get the job done. I can be at home, casually attired (if attired at all,) and taking frequent skinnydip breaks, while "on the job" if I so choose...most of the time. I can get eight hours of work done in three hours if I wish, and go shopping, make love with myself or a friend, or patronize whatever restaurant or bistro I choose if I get the thirsties and/or the munchies...or I can order out.
So far as the money is concerned, it's been five years since I've put less than 30K into savings or my retirement plan or received less than 100K in compensation. I live, rent and utility-free, in a luxury garage apartment in exchange for looking after the very private and lovely estate whereon it is located AND I have the full use of the "big house" and all it's amenities. The only household expenses Ash(leigh) and I incur are food, booze, other expendables, and toilet paper, LOL! We pay no utilities, cable, or internet fees.
We have free use of the owner's ranches and the goodies there to be enjoyed...horses, hunting, fishing, partying, etc. Ash(leigh) receives a nice salary indeed as manager of the owner's business interests. We also have the use of his nice cabin on the Texas Coast...boats included...two.
Best of all, when the owner and his spouse are in town, I get to make love with both of them...that, Beau, is priceless.
(OK, so I'm a spoiled concubine...fine with me!)
Please bear in mind that my living arrangements are in no way related to my work. The estate (inherited) owner is a career Army officer, a Lt.Col. of Armored Cavalry.
In order for me to attend any law school I consider acceptable I'd have to leave San Antonio. That is NOT acceptable. I may not like the city all that much...thanks to a leaky border (See: Rio Grande), but I DO love my little world-within-a-world here and the people with whom I choose to associate.
Besides being extremely well-paid, including amazing bonuses, I get so much comp time and freedom that I sometimes don't see the office for a week, even if not on official vacation. I get to travel to other cities for legal work and I stay in top-drawer accommodations...all paid for, when I do. Of course, it must be admitted that some of the lesser towns I sometimes visit are lucky to have a Motel 6, LOL!
When I travel, I have a choice of mode of transport. I like that, since I HATE flying, except in private planes. I've even traveled by train, just for the fun(?) of it.
I've worked hard to achieve and maintain this idyllic life and I regard it as perfect for me. I'm on track to retire comfortably before my late forties, sooner if the bonuses persist, should I so choose, but I will stay with it until I become bored.
I must also admit, so much to myself as to you, that I am, well, "bait", for our firm. I think you know what I mean but I'll just state that I'm often called upon to charm some folks. I'm skilled and lucky at averting sexual overtures from some of the clientele, male and female alike (there was this lady rancher/oil person who...and the guy with a foot fetish...never mind, LOL!) so I am NOT a whore for the firm, just a lure, so to speak.
Someone asked about my IQ. Well, darned if I know. I do have some friends who are members of MENSA and they often invite me to gatherings. I guess it's OK for some, but I've repeatedly and nicely side-stepped their recruiting efforts. Frankly, though nice for the most part, there are some scary-weird people in that group. Besides, I am not a joiner. I prefer all the freedom I can gain.
Re: Being a "go-fer"...well, yes, but it's a far cry from what most go-fers experience. Plus, any little extras I'm asked to do are very, very, well rewarded, in time or money.
So, while your advice is obviously well-intentioned and certainly valid for most I must say that it just doesn't apply to me.
I hope this post resolves any and all questions. I have not been boasting, BTW, but explaining WHY, as Popeye says "I yam wot I yam and that's all wot I yam!"
My papa is a Popeye freak and so I was raised on diet of Popeye-isms.
Now, it's into the shower then off to church.
Love to all from...

Re: Unfair Labor Practices!!!
In my view you probably did not think positive about the whole thing. The right thing to have done would have been to fuel the boat up and then surfed it out of there on the rising floods!!! What an adventure!!! It could have been better than white water rafting.

What idiot made you hook it up to a trailer? Probably the one who needed you in the office the next day to tell him what to do next.

Re: Unfair Labor Practices!!!
Since it's not an "Office Day" until 11AM, and then only for an hour or so followed by a luncheon meeting on the San Antonio RiverWalk...
Yoli can be here...and she is!
Salami and Baloney...errrr...I mean Francis, for the kind and amusing comments.
The idea of "surfing" that boat away from the coast would never have been a practical one. Once the water receded it would have been stranded.
The best part of it all was the ego trip resulting from all the praise heaped on "Yolanda The Trucking Truckerette" by the rest of the people involved.
As mentioned earlier, it was a relief to be able to shed boat and trailer in that small town well before we reached San Antonio. Again, had I been compelled to tow it to the originally-intended destination I might have come to grief or had a nervous meltdown.
The original plan called for me to pass through the middle of the city, on IH37 until turning onto IH35S, then to IH10W, and then out of SA all the way to Boerne (ber-nee) from where I'd have to negotiate Hill Country roads to a ranch where secure storage awaited.
We'd have hit SA at near-peak traffic time and God knows what might have happened if some idiot suddenly changed lanes in front of me or skidded into the stern of that $$$ boat. Had THAT happened I'd have climbed, well, parachuted (That is one TALL truck!,) down from the cab of the truck and performed a castration or clitorectomy on the spot, assuming I was still alive.
I must say that the "planners" of the operation were not very practical, but the depositing of that boat AND the other boat, as well as the rest of the loot, in that spot about halfway to SA was a wise second-guess choice.
And now, the rest of the story...
If course, the bigwigs want their boats BACK at the coast soonest. Naturally, I've been tagged to repeat the performance for the return. I'm not thrilled about it but at least there should be less risk and hassle than if the boats were hauled all the way to the original shelter.
Concern: The weather gurus state that this is expected to be a BAD hurricane season. So, if the boats are returned, there's an excellent chance that they'll have to be "rescued" again...Noooooooo!
The life of a "Gopher", however spoiled and pampered, is never an easy one.
Love to all, and now into the pool before a shower.

Re: Unfair Labor Practices!!!
I defer to the Lady of Spain. I didn't mean to suggest you lacked intelligence, Yoli--but a lot of people who accept careers as subordinates, do so because they think they don't have enough intellect to succeed as bosses. Maybe you'll wind up retiring early and moving to the Ozarks, the wilds of New Mexico, or some other remote location, to run a hunting and fishing resort. One of my great aunts did something similar in the north woods when she retired.
