androcur vs. the liver

Post by gadzoocs (imported) »

I was checking out the Wikipedia page on Androcur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androcur) and it mentions that people to take it should be monitored for their liver enzymes and liver toxicity. Granted, it says this for mostly higher dosages than I take (200-300 mg a day instead of my 50 mg).

I wonder if there are symptoms of liver toxicity. Anything I should be on the lookout for like pain or fever or my eyes turning yellow. Anybody know anything about symptoms?

They check liver functions when you use one of many drugs like colesterol lowering drugs or anti-depressants. If you don't have insurance, ask doctor for cash discount and explain that you can't afford high costs. They actually have a pretty good markup from what the lab charges. If you are afraid of making doctor "suspicious" of your self medicating, just ask for a lipid panel (colesterol) and liver function screen. It's pretty cheap unless doctor gouges you. My doc gave one of my frinds a discount when he was between insurances (and jobs).
