"Bobbit" threat from a Senator's wife

Post by dfinder (imported) »

The latest from Washington DC: the Republican senator (undoubtedly in a bit of a panic) decides to pre-empt bad news from the DC madam's little black book by admitting to his former sins before the news hits the public. Then, someone digs up a quote from the same man's wife about his fate, should she discover he has strayed from the straight & narrow... now we can only wonder, does he have the same bulge in his Speedos?

Deborah Jeane Palfrey has never retracted her promise to shock Washington by exposing public figures who called her escort service, Pamela Martin & Associates, even after ABC’s “20/20″ program found no fish bigger than a deputy secretary of state and a Pentagon consultant in the phone records. Now, a Republican senator from Louisiana has come clean before anyone tied his number to the list. In David Vitter’s words, as reported by The Associated Press:

‘’This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible,'’ Vitter said Monday in a printed statement. ‘’Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there — with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way.'’

Saturday night May 1, 1999.

Senator Vitter doesn’t say what he means by “a very serious sin,” but The Washington Post sets some parameters:

Pamela Martin & Associates hired college-educated women in their 20s, sending them to male clients in the Washington area who, according to authorities, paid $275 to $300 per sexual encounter. Palfrey said that, so far as she knew, her employees and clients engaged in legal sex play, such as erotic role-playing.

UPDATE, 10:31 PM ET The Web site that broke the news last night, Politico, grabs some interesting quotes from a 2000 interview with Mrs. Vitter.

She was asked: If her husband were as unfaithful as Livingston or former President Bill Clinton, would she be as forgiving as Hillary Rodham Clinton?:

“I’m a lot more like Lorena Bobbitt than Hillary,” Wendy Vitter told Newhouse News. “If he does something like that, I’m walking away with one thing, and it’s not alimony, trust me.”

“I think fear is a very good motivating factor in a marriage,” she added. “Don’t put fear down.”

Good for her. I firmly believe that people who cheat (men and women alike) should be dragged into the public square for a good flogging.

But what if they're into it?! :)

Well, it would have to be on a case by case basis, of course. Regardless of the punishment, there should be no reward for such behavior.

I can already imagine thousands of married submissives going out and cheating on their partners, just for a chance to get a real public lashing by a pro (and at no expense, unlike most professional whippings)...

Eventually it will reach the point where the aggrieved partner will have to take a lie detector test to make sure that he/she is actually mad, and not just trying to score some free SM time for his/her partner.

Seriously though, cheating can end in one of three ways:

a.) You're a pushover about it, in which case you deserve what you get.

b.) You rain down such fiery wrath upon your partner that no punishment inflicted by the justice system would even come close.

c.) Reciprocation, followed by the inevitable fighting, arguments, shivving, and someone burying someone else's corpse in the abandoned quarry at 3:30 am (lye is optional).

I like c.) myself, since it has kind of an old-school charm to it. That, or just having a open relationship, which completely avoids any such problems...

I like B and C... minus the reciprocation. I don't share well with others.

Do you mean that you aren't good at sharing, or that you aren't good at being shared? ;)
