personal trainer?

Post by incuse (imported) »

Yesterday I signed up for a gym. I was offered a plan for one year for $500-something or $617 for 3 years with 5 sessions with a personal trainer.

So, I opted for the 3 year plan. Now I have a personal trainer to help me loose weight and try to get fit.

My main goal is to reduce the size of my chest and my belly. Basically, I could loose 80 pounds and still be considered a tad overweight, but at least healthy by then. I'm fat, OK?!

Since I have the personal training sessions coming up, would there be any benefit in telling him/her Im a eunuch? At the end of the 5 sessions the trainer will make a plan for me to follow.

My mom is going to curves and it has a training plan designed for women, well, I basically have some of the features of a woman hormonal (I don't have estrogen or the like). Whenever the trainer creates my exercise routine, I want him to be able to create the best for me.

So, I pose the question. Do the benefits of having my trainer adjusting my plan outweight the possible ridicule or initial smirks I'd get from telling him/her I'm a eunuch.

Would I have better luck with a female or male trainer as far as open-mindness if I do decide to provide this information?

Thanks!!~

men are so cocky (pun intended) that i find that women are more sympathetic to hormone issues, and they tend to be more knowledgeable on the subject. One of the reasons i now only go to female medical professionals...

I want to say that I agree but even more so. I don't think Men are well suited to be doctors. Empathy is so important and most men lack it. Being able to listen and not have ego problems because a question is asked is also critical. The first female MD I saw is (I hope) the last Doctor I need. She is easily 1000 times better then any of the schmuck head male doctors I saw before.

As to the original question. I doubt that the status of your balls will change anything as far as your trainer is thinking except opening you up to embaressment.

I suspect that you would be better served by a routine that focuses on cardio, rather than weight training. Without the usual amount of testosterine, your muscles will have a difficult time building mass. Frankly YOU SHOULD ask a doctor. Most trainers do not have the knowledge base to handle eunuch issues. If you do weight training, I would suggest lighter weights with more reps (toning), rather than heavier weight with fewer reps (mass building).

Additionally, gym people are a little snarky, so I would phrase your information in a way that would encourage their confidentiality. I suspect that what you share with one trainer, the rest will know within a short time. The less cryptic and more casual you are with the information the morel likely you are to mitigate any awkward reactions.

Good luck! Break a sweat!

My recommendation would be to discreetly disclose your eunuchhood, particularly to the trainer, suggesting that it was the result of a medical condition or accident (which maybe it was). You will definitely need a different program that addresses your specific needs as discussed above and the trainer should know. You will probably have to educate him a bit.

Sooner or later in the showers etc others in the gym will become aware of your status and I think that you are better to pass the word around than to allow their speculation to run rife. I expect that it would bring sympathy and discretion to their behaviour with you.

I wonder how any other real eunuchs here would view it? (I am a wannabe - not there yet)

Since you are a non-hrt eunuch, your training program needs to be adjusted to the same level as that of a female your age, since eunuchs generally have about the same capability of gaining muscles as women. You don't need to tell your instructor that you are a physical eunuch. It may suffice with a brief notion that your training regimen needs would unlikely be the same as for "most other guys", due to "hypogonadism" of some sort (I don't think that you'd need to be more specific, as it's really none of his business as to the exact circumstances).

Personally, and alternatively, I can say that a few bike trips/week and some hiking (coupled with a "balanced" diet) can make wonders in keeping a eunuch in good shape. None of wich costs you any extra, of course :)

I made an appointment to see the fitness manager on Saturday at noon, then I meet the trainer on either monday or tuesday, depending on scheduling.

Due to you guys input (and OneBallBoi's), I've decided to meet with a female trainer and tell her I have hypogonadism.

It would seem that you have made your decision, and I see nothing wrong with it, but if it were me I would say nothing about being a eunuch or hypogonadism.

I have been in this situation actually. When I joined a gym and was getting my "free fitness assesment" (which is code for high pressure personal training sales), I was asked if I had any medical conditions that my trainer should know about. I said I had none. I could have mentioned the lack of balls, but that would have been embarassing and awakward for me. If it isn't for you, that's great :)

I would just have been concerned about coming up with a lie for why I cannot take T or be honest and say I do not want to take T. Had I said the latter, I think I would have been viewed and treated very differently from then on.

"Hypogonadism" is a medical term that is not widely known and understood by the public. Personal trainers are not medical professionals, so expect to have to do some explaining about that term :)

I would definitely go with a female, because even though in my personal experience it has been female doctors who were cold and distant to me after learning about me and male doctors who actually have been the biggest help to me, I still think females in general are more likely to be understanding and accepting of this situation.

Best wishes :)

I went and saw the personal trainer today. The first of the five sessions is just talking and setting up a diet plan. This was suppose to be the point where I introduced myself and got to know the trainer.

I spent about an hour discussing things with her, Jennifer, and sadly I have to report that I did not tell her about my hypogonadism or being castrated. I would have felt comfortable telling her about it. However, after we got through some of the medical stuff she was entering all of the information into the computer. When she got to the point of entering that I had a tumor aka cancer, a red flag got thrown up.

Now, I have to get a medical release from my oncologist. That blows. :(

So I'm going to do that sometime Tuesday and hopefully he'll release me to excercise. I hope so, I'm looking forward to it.

However, now, I am reconsidering telling her I have been castrated or have no or very low testosterone since that would probably cause more problems than it's worth with the gym.

We'll see how it goes and eventually she'll release in the coming months that for some unknown reason I am developing muscle slower than the average joe. I think that's about the only influence it'd have over my work out anyways.

We'll see how it goes. Being told I have a snag in my efforts in losing weight and feeling better put a damper on my day. Luckily I have a friend to help calm me down and make me realize that I'll get past this wall that's been put up.

wish me luck at the oncologist tomorrow in getting my release signed.

Just an update:

I did see the trainer a second time, but she busted my ass and the pain prevented me from going to the gym for 4 days. So my 3rd session that was scheduled for after the mom got canceled out of pure fright. There is another personal trainer there I see training often, he's a young black guy, and seems to be very gentle with the elderly people who he trains. I'm thinking I may ask him soon to train me. Jennifer will just have to get over it . . .

The last week I have really pumped up my training. I do 55 minutes of cardio, 50 minutes at the start and 5 minutes at the tail end. In between I do resistence training on chest, legs, arms, shoulder, and abs. I do light weights. I do 100 pounds on legs and 30 or 50 pounds else on the others depending on how I feel when I get to that machine.

I finish up with 10-12 minutes in the sauna on the top row. (approx 150 - 160 degrees)

One thing I have started noticing over the past 3-4 days and what has prompted this update is...

My skin is feeling soooo good. I think it's because my pores are puking out tons of toxins that are in there from over the years. 🤮 I'm really liking the results of how my skin is feeling.

Also, my step is lighter and the other day I actually walked to class the entire time while talking on the cell all without running out of breath!

I haven't lost but 2 pounds so far, but just the way I feel is worth so much.
