interesting, waiting for your post.
Thanks for the question! I watched a film. I remember a moment on the 52nd minute: the girl waves a very sharp sword, defending herself from the villain-robber standing in front of her. He stands smiling, not understanding anything. But he has a red bloody streak on his throat. A little later, the head falls off and falls to the floor. The headless body is still worth some time!
80s cinema. The faces of familiar actors. They play great. It was nice that this was filmed without using computer graphics. Funny scenes, easy to watch.
As a filmmaker I’ve been using films to deal with my castration desires. I recently made the mistake of sharing one of my films with several trans gender mtf . They were offended that I had not portrayed castration positively. And as such I am slandering trans people. My films have no trans characters and the protagonist choses castration voluntarily and later regrets it. Am I wrong to portray castrations negatively? Besides the fact that these horror films are for a general audience and a favorable view of castration would probably leave them with no audience. The film has done well in festivals here in the US and in Germany. What do people think? Is any negative depiction of castration slandering trans people?
Origen22. You have described two completely different audiences. One is a subset of the general population that goes to film festivals in the US and Germany. I wouldn't be surprised if the AVERAGE response from the general population and that subset would be different. The second is a teeny tiny subset (the ones you know or could meet because of geography or networking ) of a tiny subset (mtf transgenders). I have seen posts from people I personally would consider hyper-sensitive and, while glad they can have their say, do not pay much attention to them. Being only moderately sensitive myself, hypersensitive people do not reflect my thoughts or feelings. The other point is that for many guys, castration (ball cutting) has nothing at all to do with mtf. I think if I understand people here correctly, there are also nullos who did that with 0 thought of mtf. So why does the mtf crowd thing they can speak for everyone. If it were me, I would thank them for their feedback and get on with things.
I have a question. You set out to do films with the plot line that castration is an unfortunate thought. Have you every thought of films playing it for humor. Probably from some of the fiction stories here, I like the plot where women are hilariously pro-castration if released from societies restraints. I have an idea where I would stick in scenes like the lady doctor at the Walk In Testicular Health Clinic doing the testicle exam being viewed from behind and between his legs and she does a Basic Instict beaver shot as she switches from one testicle to another. Anyway, ever thought of humor?
Very good points! Actually my first script had a humorous, ironic tone, but the director I choose saw a much darker story, and even though it followed my narrative the film turned out to be pure horror with only a few tweaks
