five years being a eunuch
I write this because the past five years have been good to me and for me this was a blessing. The first two years I was on depo provera and i loved it but hated going to the doc every month for the shots but so glad my doctor listened to my plea and prescribed this for me.The past three years I am a enuch and again my urolagest was very helpful and jumped through hoops getting this done for me as an electided surgery that was covered under my ins.As I have said this has been a blessing for me but I do feel that for anyone interested in this to go the chemical castration first as it may not be the best thing for you. Then when you are sure you like being without testosterone go for the surgery if this is what you realey feel you want and need.As I have said in other posts iI dont regret one singel day or second of me decission but as it has been so good for me the next person it could be hell so be careful.

Re: five years being a eunuch
Sag111, I soooooo agree with you, and I also understand when you say "
I would strongly support making depo provera available over the counter and at minimal costs to any male who wanted to use it.
But I am REALLY interested and would love to hear from you confirming or denying a rumor I have heard... You said you were on depo provera for two years, but somewhere (not sure where), I read that the castrating effects of depo provera are residual and can be permanent if it is used for more than one year. Reading that got my hopes up, that I could have permanent castration without all the fuss and COST of surgery. After you were on the depo provera for two years, but before your surgery, did you even get to try a period of time to see it the effects were lasting at all?
Also, I have read that with depo provera, there is considerably more of a shrinkage effect that with surgical castration (for me, it was so shruken that most of the time I had to sit down to pee!) Did the depo provera cause PERMANENT shrinking? Or did it come back after the surgery?

Re: five years being a eunuch
I cant answer thoes questions because I went directly from depo provera the the surgery.I have had more shrinking in the last three years then when I was on depo provera.I still get hard and can still reach a climax but I have no desire to do so.Now I did see a diffrence between the surgery and the depo provera as I now get hot flashes and with the depo provera I didnt. To off set thies I now take permarin and this has helped as I dont get them as often and I realey think we all need some hormones I just like the permarin over the testosterone.I also feel the permarin makes me feel a little calmer but maybe thats just me ........dose anyone else have any experiances on this

Re: five years being a eunuch
I only hope that when i reach the 5 year mark i can say the same things. I am sure i will.
when you talked about the lack of desire to have sex, i share the dame feeling. sometimes i feel i should be a bit more sexual, however, being a eunuch really doesn't allow for that. i am not on any hormones, but for a few months was on estrogen, and felt better over all, yet was in pain due to the effects of feminization, such as swelling of the nipples and chest.
i feel calm, and happy, like you, being able to live life castrated/\

Premarin is a synthetic estrogen. I would seriously reconsider that use for health reasons. Any "human" identical hormone would be an improvement. Estrogel, Climara etc. All (my opinion) safer then synthetic horse based estrogens.
You may wish to consider adding progesterone. Unapposed estrogen may have some health issues as well. What does your MD say?

Congratulations on your fifth anniversary. I hope that you and your wife have a wonderful celebration. I have only known you since your surgery, but you are one of the kindest and most loving people I know. You certainly deserve your happiness.
