I visit this site regularly and the chat room and story board and am trying to understand what draws so many men to this subject.

Firstly is it a gay thing as most do seem to be gay? Is this a subconscious dislike of being gay and societies underlying abhorrence at homosexuality? Do alot of gay men see castration as a cure?

Or is it a case of men no longer feeling secure in theeir role and feeling mentally castrated by women taking over mens traditional roles and surpasing men in many fields? Do men now dislike being identified as male?

Is this a growing desire in the male population?

well for me there's a whole variety of reasons - some of which i've mentioned before in other posts and others I haven't...

I think the first time it entered my head was after a particularly messy break up with my first ever boyfriend (who, btw, was a complete shit!) I used to have frequent fantasies about cutting off his cock / balls as a way of getting revenge for how he hurt me. The revenge feelings gradually subsided, but the thought was still there, so you could say my 'introduction' to the idea was definitely one of S&M ; this is quite strange in itself, as the classic S&M scene does very little to arouse me... but I digress...

Anyways, after a time and lots of fantasizing I found that i'd become interested in the idea of having castration / penectomy myself !?! Now, I can't pinpoint a time or event that triggered these feelings towards myself but I can definitely say that it's not from feelings of self-loathing in any way at all - in fact, I find it incredibly hot! i'm comfortable with who I am / what I am and my interest in achieving castration wouldn't be as a form of self-punishment for sure.

One reason that springs to mind is the sense of regaining control - some other members have mentioned that they have felt 'out of control' thru the effect of testosterone on their bodies and wish to regain complete control over their hormones, etc... I suppose I can relate to this - at times, my sex-drive has become so high, it would be almost unbearable ; almost as if my entire life revolved around sex (which it doesn't) - cutting my balls off would certainly allow me to eliminate the problem once and for all, as I could adjust my HRT to the level I felt comfortable with.

I agree that society as a whole still has some major 'issues' when it comes to accepting those of us who are 'different' from the norm (and I don't just mean sexuality), but i'd never consider this as a way of gaining acceptance / approval (mainly 'cos i'm too bloody minded to conform to anything! ). Whether other members feel the same or not? only time (and many posts) will tell... but I think i've prattled on for long enough, so i'll let someone else 'take the floor'...

There are probably as many reasons as there are people considering it.

For some, it's a fantasy.

For others, it is a way to control unwanted urges or what they believe to be an uncontrollable libido.

I'm sure for some it is something they can control in what they see as an uncontrolled life.

If you read some of the stories from those who have had it done, they really regret it, others love it.

For some, it may be the start down the path of transexualism.

In no case should it be untertaken lightly.

No, it isn't JUST a gay thing, but I wonder if it isn't commoner among gays brought up in a homophobic environment. I am gay and I grew up in a homophobic time and in a homophobic environment. I think that I had two reasons for desiring to be castrated.

One was to punish myself for being "queer". I was brought up to regard homosexuals as vile, loathesome, disgusting, and depraved. Naturally, I felt intense guilt and self-loathing.

The other reason was to eradicate my "dirty unnatural urges". Every time I had gay sex, I felt defiled afterward. By the time I was 18, my guilt feelings had made me impotent. However, this had no effect on my desire to perform fellatio. Only cowardice saved me from suicide.

I really think that I would have been better off had I been castrated as I desired.

In my case my fantasies of being voluntarily castrated at the request of a woman are one component of a triad whose other two legs are being subject to female domination in a marital context and being able, thanks to a wonderful new machine, to permanently transform myself into an actual woman, the machine not merely givining me xx chromosomes and female primary and secondary sexual organs, but reducing my stature, widening the hips, giving me a plum-shaped butt, etc. (It even causes the hair to grow long!) The number of straight stories and the number of gay stories are about the same, so I don't think castration fantasies and men who want to be castrated has anything to do with one's sexual orientation.

The desire to be castrated is something that I'm still exploring. I've always had a wildly experimental attitude toward sexual matters and this carries through to castration. So, there is a strong erotic fetishistic element for me. It's more of a need to alter my sexuality than to nullify it. I have tried to determine how far back into my life the interest goes but every time I think I've reached the beginning I realize that there was something even earlier that relates to my need. I don't want to start off wrong so I'll say that I agree with your conclusion. But not your maths.

If the the gay and strait stories are about the same one should take into account that gays form a minority smaller than straits so proportionally gay contributions are actually much more prevalent. If, for the sake of argument, gays are 1/10 of the population then contributing equal numbers suggests that a gay man is 10 time more likely to think of castration than a strait one.

However I'm not saying that this is actually the case. My guess is that if there appears to be an over representation of gays here it is not because our orientation makes us more prone to want castration but because being gay we've already had to face big issues over gender, orientation and how we fit into society (or fail to) and once having done that it's going to be easier to face up to the stranger related questions.

I suspect it's just the same as I see at SM Pride events where the numbers gays and lesbians appear to be disproportionately large yet we're all aware that there are loads of kinky heteros out in suburbia, behind their lace curtains, who just don't do public stuff.

I don't think I really want to be castrated because once is all it takes. However, I get really turned on by the thought. I gay and think I am still shamed about that fact. Perhaps I feel it is the ultimate price that must be paid. My fantasies surround being raped and then totally castrated at the end.
