Matthew 19:12 {Gideon's}
I just don't understand why the catholic church and so many other 'christian' denominations strictly oppose voluntary castration when Jesus Himself totally approved of it in Matthew 19:12 of the New Testament when He said:"...There are those who made themselves eunuchs for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven. He who can accept it let him accept it..." and Matthew 18:8 when He said:"if your [body part] causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. Better to enter into life maimed than to have your whole body intact and thrown into the Lake of Fire." Hello?!?!

Re: Matthew 19:12 {Gideon's}
Im torn between what i believe in God...Im not sure if i can believe anything thats written in that book anymore....
You make a very good point though
Most of these so called "christian demononations/organisations" are anti christis if you ask me, just like most of the so called "christians"..Ive never met someone in my life who seemed touched by God, i see alot of people who want to get into heaven but choose their own way aswell..and then say "well no ones perfect" or something.
I dunno, if he exists why doesnt he make a change in these people..then there is also the point that some of the most amazing and differnt people are not christian (or are even opossed to it) and shine so brightly.....
Today im just, i dunno.....*fed up* with this place...
I cant help but think true beauty is just what the occasional few have in there hearts......
oh later for this
sorry for venting!!!/ranting!!!

Re: Matthew 19:12 {Gideon's}
It is sad when we look at the church and not the bible for things like this.The church is a group of people who make rules for their flock to follow but when they try to judge by what they think then it is not a good thing to follow.Their is so many churches telling people fase things it is no wonder so many people today dont go anymore.My advice is to read the bible yourself and dont reley on others to tell you what they think you should be or think.Remember it was the people in charge of the church in thoes days who killed christ.

Re: Matthew 19:12 {Gideon's}
Don't forget that the church stopped the practice of castration because little boys were being castrated to maintain their pure angelic voices. I'm glad they stopped that practice. It's also true that several early church fathers, like Origen, got castrated or castrated himself to stop/prevent sexual temptations, but this was frowned upon because 1 Corinthians 3:16-17 states that the body is the "Temple of the Holy Spirit." If you purposely hurt or injure your body, you are injuring God's temple. It's also true that some in the church associate "self injurious" practices like castration as a sign of demonic possession. I do wonder sometimes if demons can influence a man to castrate himself.
But getting back to Matt. 19:12, Jesus didn't advocate castration, He was simply stating why some men castrate themselves. Had he truly advocated the practice, Christianity would have eventually died out like the Skoptics. Did you know that there is a website of a Christian man named Bill, who used a "burdizzo" to castrate himself? Ask him and he will tell you. www.burdizzocastration.com Hash

Re: Matthew 19:12 {Gideon's}
I think there was a clash between different branches of the church at the council of Nicaea in 325 AD on the issue of castration and amputation. It was a few years since I read this, but as I remember it, there were cloisters in Northafrica and the middle east were almost all the monks were castrates. But some of the western European branches tried to stop the practice altogether.
The end result, if I remember correctly, was that the counsil decided that you couldn't become a priest if you had been castrated, or had elective amputation in any other way. Neither if you had amputation as part of a medical cure. If it was an involuntary procedure, you could still enter paradise, but if it was voluntary you had to atone for it.
