You're absolutuely right. People say that priests would not molest choir boys if these priests were allowed to marry women. So instead of molesting choir boys, they would molest their own biological children that they beget in the marriage! Okay?

The point is not that you would change sexual orientations. The point is that you would have people who would be attracted to the priesthood who are not attracted now because of the vow of chastity.

Hopefully, you would have less pediophiles, regardless of sexual orientation trying to become priests. You know, taking a vow of chastity in a society that condemns your sexuality in the first place is not nearly as hard as taking one in a society that does not condemn your sexuality. Does that make sense?

Also, Priests traditionally are respected and a majority of those in the catholic religion tend to think the best things about them. This makes it easier for the sexually abnormal to hide their acts of evil on children.

The tendancy to swear off of sex is greater when your sexuality is something that sets you apart in the mainstream society. For these, the role is a perfect hiding place.

Also, if it were not so hard to get men to commit to the Catholic Priesthood vow of chastity, then the Priesthood could be more selective about who they allowed into the priesthood using other criteria.

You and I both know that wierdness is no respecter of sexual orientation. We have people who are just downright weird regardless of their sexual orientation.

I'm not a Catholic because I chose to be one of those damn rebellious protesters like Martin Luther who nailed his 95 Thesis on the door of the Wittenburg Church. Yup, I'm a Lutheran...or was. Now I'm probably just an old fashioned Pagan.

I would imagine Jesus isn't Catholic if only because he'd think one nailing to cross was enough. I do want to go with him to the Vatican someday, in St, Peter's Square, when he tells the assembled crowd, "Hello, I'm Jesus." Though I might make a quick exit when the stoning begins

I was baptised a Methodist, went to Sunday School in a Presbyterian church, joined the Methodists, married a Lutheran, converted to Lutheran, converted to Catholic, became a Secular Franciscan, and now I dunno.... Buddist next?

The catholic church is just to political and way to powerful and when this happens they tend to think they are a God.When man thinks this way nothing ever good comes from it and the catholic church is just that way.They do more harm then good or at least thats the way i feel

Offhand, I'd say I'm not a Catholic if only because the Catholic Church sponsered the Holy Inquisition which murdered over 2,000,000 innocent people over a 500 year period.
