The Catholic Church is not amusing if you are a recovering Catholic. Yes I still carry much guilt. I remember a nun telling us that our loved ones watch down from heaven to see what we are doing. I always hoped, when I was masturbating, they would look away.

Whenever the subject of abstinence and priests comes up, particuarly in light of some of the things which have been in the news in the past few years, there is always someone who says :

"You wouldn't have all these problems with paedophilic priests, If they were allowed to marry and/or have sex."

My answer to this is really very simple :

"Just who would you have a paedophile get married to?"

And, for me, that's the crux of it. Abstinence doesn't cause priests to become paedophilic or otherwise sexually deviant, if they're going to do those kind of things, they will anyway. Statistically, most sexual acts committed by adults against children are committed by straight, married men.

You're absolutuely right. People say that priests would not molest choir boys if these priests were allowed to marry women. So instead of molesting choir boys, they would molest their own biological children that they beget in the marriage! Okay?
