I'm not saying that any man who wants to be castrated has mental issues (For obvious reasons) but I think it is possible that a man who wants this MAY have mental issues. I think we can all agree that its if nothing else unusual. And surgeons have to protect themselves from lawsuits.
In short - If the person seeking this does have mental issues this is (I think) a very good idea to have some professional help. If the person does not need help for mental issues its a good check off for the doctor and may still be of value for the patient to have someone to talk to and to have his mental health assured.
