I'm not saying that any man who wants to be castrated has mental issues (For obvious reasons) but I think it is possible that a man who wants this MAY have mental issues. I think we can all agree that its if nothing else unusual. And surgeons have to protect themselves from lawsuits.

In short - If the person seeking this does have mental issues this is (I think) a very good idea to have some professional help. If the person does not need help for mental issues its a good check off for the doctor and may still be of value for the patient to have someone to talk to and to have his mental health assured.

Many times, I ask myself why do people make a lot of problems about these matters. What I am asking from my urologist, (and before my family doctor) is not the every day question. Even without the problems of the law, he is in a responsible position. I think it should be normal if I need another referral from a shrink. If I would be afraid of consulting a shrink, that should ring all alarms at my urologist

Only problem, after seeing me, the shrink might need a colleague (lol)

I'm in the SE US, Hotlanta area. I am also having a problem trying to locate a physician also.

I am an upstanding resident that has a job which requires me to have an annual psych evaluation. I have seen my medical records and psych reports and they are consistent that I am NOT nuts. I'm not sure if I should ask the Psychiatrist to refer me or not. The facility I have my evaluation at is a very close knit medical center and I just don't want this to get out because of my position at the med center. (No, I am not in the medical profession, but I am in a ancillary job.)

Any help in the immediate area or SE US for a physician would be greatly appreciated.

I would suggest you talk to Dr Reed In Miami Fla. Its far enough away that you won't have an association issue with your clinic. Its what? 10 hours by car or bus? Go in, get the Orchiectomy done and relax at the pool for a few days then drive back with some frozen peas.

I don't know what he will require from you preop but the easiest way to find out is to ask him. I emailed him a couple of times and he seemed experienced and knew what he was talking about.
