Dividing a story into parts/chapters

As my English teacher would no doubt say....most long stories can naturally be broken down into chapters. Let the flow of the story determine were the chapters will be. Each chapter should be fairly complete, but that is not to say you cant have overlapping threads with other chapters. A good example might be going shopping...the first chapter could be getting ready, the 2nd the trip to the store, the 3rd the store, the 4th the trip home, the 5th unpacking. Now if there is not enough story to make the trip to the store then fold it in with another chapter.
