The best, and in my mind only, place to get Java is www.java.com (http://www.java.com).
We hope to see you there.

Re: how to visit the chat line
I'm very sorry about this, I know it's me who's stupid but could someone please help me out?
I really don't understand how the chat facility works. It's not something I would probably use very much but one or two members have indicated to me that they use the chat room a bit and I'd like to be able to have a chat with them.
I'm fairly sure I've got Java on my machine (although I WILL check that out once again) but when I click on the link, I just get the error page for IE. I read through another thread on this subject which said something, which sounded very complicated, about putting various things in to different boxes when the page loads, something about port numbers I think it was (but I could be wrong). But that thread appears to have gone (or maybe I just can't find it).
I don't know how to get it to work. Can anyone explain it to me in nice, simple little steps, using one syllabled words which don't involve boy-racer technical terms?
Thank you.
Yours,
Dingbat,

Most likely causes:
There might be a typing error in the address.
If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.
*this is what happens to me, when i try-i just installed latest java version aswell*

Can I ask which link the two of you (truly committed and dingbat) are using? Is it the one on the message boards here?

Ah ok. Hmm... let me see...
(Sounds of someone taking a hammer to delicate machinery)
There we go. Please try it now. Dingbat, you may also wish to retry that link.

Re: how to visit the chat line
Thanks IEunuch. I've just tried it and this time I get a prompt to enter a chat name, after clicking on that I get a Java problem. This probably indicates that my Java is not up-to-date, I'll check that out.
Thanks.
ETA (Edited to add!) : Java now up-to-date, got in fine, no problems. Thank you very much IEunuch.
