Rush Limbaugh Discovers Eunuchs
I turned on Rush Limbaugh yesterday, and was surprised to hear him say he had heard that many thousands of American men wanted to be castrated; that they felt burdened by their genitals; and that there was a surgical procedure called orchiectomy. Rush spoke of castration in a hushed voice suggestive of horror. He apologized to a caller for putting him on the air after so unpleasant a topic. He used this discussion to start a riff about "the new castrati" - people who were reluctant to assert their political and moral values.
Well, it seems eunuchs are becoming visible, even in so slighting a way. To be scorned is the first step toward power and recognition. Anonymity may be safe, but it implies irrelevance.

To be dissed by the great and powerful Wizard of Limbaugh is an honor indeed. --FLO--

Here is the Rush Meister's thoughts on this. I recall the Woody Allen Movie "Banannas" where he meets Louise Lasser and she says (I think) Just because I'm a feminist don't think that immediate castration is required.
Woody Allen starts contorting and says "Don't say that word! Now, I'll have to stay in this bent over position for an hour."
"immediate" Castration? I guess you get a few weeks to think about it?

First Woody, then Rush. This could be castration's cultural moment! How nice to think that we're the "cutting edge" of societal evolution.
I would love it if one of us were to call Rush on his show --- for educational purposes, of course. Doing that would take more nerve than I've got, but if anyone here is game, it might be priceless. The rest of us could listen, if we knew which day. If not an on-air confrontation, at least let's send him a salami with a carving knife and a suitably suggestive message. If he thinks we're entertaining, this might reach the airwaves.

Well, that's progress, I guess. Sadly, we have many sexual predators to thank for yanking us out of the closet; they are at the front of the movement. God bless them. Because child molestation was a taboo subject twenty years ago, I couldn't even say "castration" without my sanity being questioned. If nothing else, the aversion to castration shows how deeply addicted our culture is to sexual pleasure, a deep addiction felt even by the phony sexual purists such as Rush.

I would suggest that it is not only our culture that is "addicted" to sex, it is the human race. We are just more open about our inclinations now, less Puritanical. Those, like Rush and George, who are unable to keep up with the world and want to apply the brakes, or have a stick so far up their ass they can't bend in the wind, just need to step up to the surgeon's table. They will no longer have a need to be concerned.

I still stick to "culture." Because India has what. . .80,000 eunuchs? I doubt you will find the deep addictions to pleasure there than you will in the "Christian" west. Environment--like food scarcity--certainly influences culture, too. My point is wealth corrupts to many points far beyond reason.

Re: Rush Limbaugh Discovers Eunuchs
In yesterday's NY Times, the Science Section dealt with recent research on human sexuality. Makes for great reading. They have a table comparing the responses of different nations to a survey about the physical pleasure of sex, the emotional pleasure of sex, and the overall importance of sex. There are separate reports for women and men. The US had the highest ratings on all three measures. The other "sexy" nation was Brazil. Japan was about the lowest. Women's ratings were lower than men's, regardless of nation.

Re: Rush Limbaugh Discovers Eunuchs
Well,
It is hard to be addicted to a human function such as sexual functions.
IT is a bit like claiming that somebody is addicted to shitting.
Look at it this way, the more that you feel that shitting should be suppressed, the more that you want to shit and finding an opportunity to shit without consequences becomes an obsession.
NOw, if you get a colostomy, (read, nullification) then you no longer have to worry about shitting. Shit happens.
However, sex is not bad. It is just how people look at it and then force their beliefs on the rest of us.
more later...I have to go shit...
