My goal is to achieve real castration status comparable with surgical castration. I plan a six-month test phase. I start with 150mg/day (3 tabs/day). Is this dosage sufficient to achive my goal? Do I need additional medications?
A complete shutdown of sexual desire (no erections, ejaculations) is desirable and acceptable for me.
I'm 40 years old, married with two children. My sex life durling the last years became absolutely frustrating for me, so that I decided to change things. My wife always had low libido and she accepts this step but is suspicious.
As you will have read in many other posts in the EA, you are absolutely right to start with drugs to lower the testosterone first. You will be able to check how it feels before taking the irreversible step of having your balls removed surgically.
I was surgically castrated on September 22, 2003. I made a number of postings at that time to describe my surgery and how I felt after I lost my balls.
Like you, I am married with three grown-up children. When I went to see the surgeon to discuss castration and arrange the date for the procedure, my wife came with me and was a party to the decision. On the day of the surgery, my wife came with me to the hospital and waited while I had the op and then drove me back home afterwards.
I had a year on a drug to lower my testosterone to the castrate level. This was because I had been diagnosed in December 2001 with prostate cancer. I was started on Androcur for three weeks to reduce the size of my prostate prior to beginning a 7-weeks course of daily radiotherapy. When I started radiotherapy, my drug treatment was changed to Zoladex-LA. This was given in the form of an implant under the skin and repeated once every 12 weeks. Because the drug was injected under the skin, it was there for the 12 weeks and there was nothing I could do about it. In that way, its effect was similar to surgical castration.
I was on the 12-weekly injections of an implant for a year. After that, the effect began to wear off and my testosterone levels began to rise. I had been a virtual eunuch for a year. Now my sexuality was returning. If I had done nothing, I should again have become a fully sexed male.
I discussed this with my wife. I liked the way that I felt as a eunuch. My wife was content with my eunuch state. We decided that I should become a permanent eunuch by being castrated. Because I had been a virtual eunuch for over a year and then briefly experienced the effect of my testosterone returning to its normal level, I was in no doubt that castration was right for me. I was castrated in September 2003. I have not had any doubts since that I, together with my wife, took the right decision.
I found the Eunuch Archive in January 2002. I found - and still do - the postings very helpful. One was a message from "Gelding" that I found particularly helpful and I repeat it here:-
"When the wife is supportive, the decision to neuter is easier to make and also leads to a shared understanding. The wife has been essentially neuter since menopause, and it is easier on both if the male is also. The affection is still there but the uneven sexual balance is gone with the male's gelding".
Please feel free to send me a private message via this website if you wish.
