Besides the obvious being able to quit the chemical what is the differance between chemical and surgical castration. What I mean is the physical and emotional differances?

Given that one takes the proper dosage to achive castration levels, there should be very little difference in either.

However, each will adversely affect the body in different ways, such as chemical castration may put some strain on liver function. These topics are detailed throughout the message boards.

I was on androcur for a long time prior my castration. I had my hormone levels tested before I started chemical castration and twice during the treatment. The last hormone test was shortly before my physical castration. My levels of testosterone were below 50mg. After my castration, it was less then 10mg. I was able to achieve true castration levels with just androcur. I noticed no change in my physical or mental changes after I was castrated. Been over a year and half castrated and over 4 years when you add in the androcur. Every one will react differently to the effects of castration.

I would say the reasons for castration have a very large effect on the outcome and happiness after physical castration. Often people are done and regret it greatly. Taking a long test run with androcur or other chemical castration drugs is very wise. Better be safe or sorry the rest of your life.

I want to give chemical castration a try. It is better than making an irreversable mistake. It's just that I feel like chemical castration is kind of like a clip-on tie. It's not very sincere.

Can anyone tell me how long before the hot flashes start? How long do I need take cyproterone before the effects become permanent? Given the difficulty in finding a Dr. to cooperate; do you feel that once chemical castration becomes permanent that he man is a true eunuch?

What I'm reading suggests that chemical castration - at least with the commonly used therapies - does NOT "become permanent"; that is to say the drug regime has to continue indefinitely.
