Weaning off of Testosterone?

Post by Hairless (imported) »

It seems like most who want to rid themselves of testosterone do so cold turkey. Weather it is done through chemical castration or through surgery. It seems that most that take this route have many withdrawal symptoms that aren't very fun. I was wondering if one would suffer as much if they took a more natural approach and weaned themselves off of T slowly. Maybe take a year or two to get the testosterone out of your system. I'm not ready to go that route yet, but if one is not in a hurry, I thought this might work better. Has anyone tried this?

Yes I have tried it. Kind of off and on. No matter whether you are taking HRT (estrogen or testosterone) or not, you WILL experience hot flashes and other side efects. Any responsible uro will tell you this. Substitute T just does not replace all the elements produced by the testes. Using HRT you can reduce significantly the impact of the hormone deficiency. I usually maintain a rather low dose of HRT, and often discontinue for a month or so + / - . Even from about 150ng/dl, going off, I do experience hot flashes, tho much less intense than earlier on. In large measure, it is an individual thing, but easing off over time certainly can't hurt anything, unless you are dealing with cancer.
