How do I say this- the global warming FAD is another RUSE ? -

to force people to spend money - or to get money - or cause

mischief - etc. Not sure how to explain it. Our "bad Science" have learned to push their GOSPEL - and listening to those that "understand" a little more- is not so popular thing to do. We HUMANS have learned how to deal with CHANGES and having people push their LOGIC on the PEOPLE and our GOVERNMENT or now many GOVERNMENTS is not a good thing. I think the word has reached the GWB WhiteHouse so that our Boss is taking steps. Regards. N3RF

You are right of course, but in the wrong direction.

What I want to see is a time line of the last, OH lets say, 100 thousand years, because in geological time that’s about 5 minutes, and in that time what has happened, global warming, Ice Ages and look at how often they happen and what cycle we are in now. I have not seen one report from this level; only what these experts have said has been happening over the last 30 or 40 years. In geological time that’s about a nano second.

Are we in a global warming world today, maybe, but I don't think there is even one shred of evidence that its caused by man, the earth does this all on its own and if you think for one moment that we, humans, can change tame this planet, your nuts, its going to do what its going to do and we can do little to stop it.

On another note, should we stop polluting? You damn right we should but don't make the assumption that polluting and global warming are linked.

They say global warming and climate change is being caused by human activity and human created greenhouse gasses.

But if that is true here is a question no one seems able to answer.

About 500,000 or a million years ago or whenever, the Ice Age began. That was global climate change. Where were the factories, and the cars and trucks, and the burning of fossil fuels, the human made greenhouse gasses that caused that global climate change?

Answer: There were none. Heck, there weren't even any humans yet.

Then the Ice Age ended and the world got much warmer. The end of the Ice Age was certainly global warming, global climate change, and the fossil record shows it happened about as fast as today's global warming.

Where were the factories, the cars and trucks, the burning of fossil fuels, the human made greenhouse gasses that caused that global warming and ended the Ice Age?

Answer: There were none. And humans at that time had not reached anything like the levels of technology we have today, so that global warming could not have been caused by human activity.

The fact is global climate change has been going on for as long as the Earth has had climates. Today's global warming and climate change is just part of that natural cycle. We cannot stop it or even slow it down. All we can do is adapt to the coming changes.

Maybe they tell us it is caused by humans and we can stop it because that makes us feel like we're in control and we can do something about it. Maybe they're afraid if they tell us the truth it will cause widespread panic.

Maybe we should put our resources into adapting to the coming changes instead of trying to stop the unstopable.

news flash:

I read the head line and without even looking I had a good idea who posted this one.

Global Warming (http://www.vegansociety.com/html/enviro ... arming.php) OMG

Are your OK, I finally went to the net looking for some facts and this is what I found.

Now hears a meals costing the Earth? Information on how meat- and dairy-based diets contribute to global warming.

LOL, you got read this one, the biggest reason for global warming is (are you ready for this) drum roll please, Cows farting.

Now if you add humans farting and China and India have 4/5ths of the worlds population and rice growing is next. Maybe we should outlaw the eating of rice.

I am sure that wearing leather contributes to global warming as well and I shall ponder this over a bowl of rice.

Squid? ok

I listed all of the above to show that there is a lot of bad stuff out there and some that is really funny, you don’t need to look far to find it, all of them were before the one below.

And finally this one, which may be the only one worthwhile reading in the whole list.

Global Warming in a Nutshell (http://geology.about.com/od/nutshells/a ... tenuts.htm)

This is good science

This is the only report that I have ever seen that has any merit to being close to the problem and why.

Man may be the cause for global warming but at less then one degree a century I think we have the time to study it further to understand it better and a lot more then the dooms day folks that give us 40 years.

And finally this:

You see if we say it’s a problem like that listed above nothing will happen but if you do this:

Feb. 2, 2007 — In Paris, representatives from 113 countries have banded together and come out with headlines about climate change that could change history.

The most extensive report on global warming to date was released by
Slammr (imported) wrote: Wed Jan 31, 2007 9:35 pm the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
today. In the report, an international collection of leading scientists warn that the Earth's climate will continue to heat up for centuries. For the first time ever, the report confirms that global warming is very likely man-made.

In Paris, ABC's Sam Champion listed the report's most significant and shocking findings.

file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/River/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msoclip1/02/clip_image001.gifWith more than 90 percent certainty, man's burning of fossil fuels is heating the planet.

file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/River/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msoclip1/02/clip_image001.gifHurricanes are very likely the result of global warming.

file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/River/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msoclip1/02/clip_image001.gifBy the end of the century, sea levels could rise by nearly 2 feet, swamping coastal areas worldwide

file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/River/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msoclip1/02/clip_image001.gifThe temperature increase this century may be the most significant in thousands of years.

file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/River/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msoclip1/02/clip_image001.gifArctic ice could disappear during summers by the year 2100.

file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/River/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/msoclip1/02/clip_image001.gifHeat waves and downpours will be more frequent and ferocious.

A Tool for the Future

Back in Washington, the White House called the report a significant and valuable tool for policymaking.

Global policy changes typically move slowly, but scientists feel the report will give them the scientific backing they need to take quick steps to control what many call the most significant problem facing the planet.

After the world's leading scientists made their troubling predictions, Champion spoke with the report's authors.

Asked by Champion whether the report will actually make a difference, co-author Kevin Trenberth of the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research said, "We sure hope so…It's the best chance we've ever had."

And River, We've known about cow farts and belches for years. The American herd produces enough methane to power a city of about 800,000, from what I read...

I remember back fifty years ago, when I was a little boy, we had snow many times that piled up as high as my ass. We no longer have snow that deep.

Uh, er, I just realized that my ass is two feet higher than it was then. Never mind.

We can cause our own extinction but not the planet, it always renews its self, every 60 million years or so.

RiverWhen constuction on favorite beachers bothered my brothers, I reminded them that the structures would not last. They haven't. :) :) Nothing gives me more joy than seeing a mansion on the beach wash away or, in California, burn away. What bastard thinks he can own a beach! Hell, we all are on borrowed time.
