I think you raise some valid points there at the beginning.

It is amazing how a loyal muslim Saddam became near his time of death.

Paolo, I was playing with tinydick's statement that "

" Thus, my bad, or maybe "me bad too."

I opposed capital punishment when I was young, because abstract principles persuade those without experience. They hear about the terrible things that are done, but it doesn't mean anything to them, because they've never known anything other than safe normality. You have to have felt fear and rage, and known pain and loss and the death of people you love; you have to have smelled the odors of a hospital room, and heard people weeping with terror because they knew they were dying, and seen people look away because your suffering embarassed them (and looked away from suffering yourself), before you can understand that justice isn't abstract. Justice comes from the gut, and it's the foundation of all law. If people weren't willing to fight back against the wrongs that are done them, the law would be so much dry paper blown away by an evil wind. Justice is an emotion, not an idea, and who could bear to live in a world without it, or at least the hope of it? Some people pride themselves on their ability to leave an ugly emotion like justice out of the cold calculus they call "idealism," but where does the law come from, if not from the hope of gratifying that emotion?

Hang 'em high!

And that S_76544 is exactly why most of the world hates us, we keep telling other people what to do, that is not our job. I dont see anything in our constitution that says when we become the most powerful country in the world we have the right to tell everybody else how to live. That is the major problem with this president and most of Washington.

The way to get along in this world is to keep our friends close and our enemys even closer. We should have had open relations with Castro years ago, the same goes for Iran. We need to stop trying to be the worlds police force because we really suck at it.

Paolo is right on the money,

Yes most countries hates us but guess which nation is the first they call on if they are hit with some kind of disaster. And I dont see anywhere in the constitution that says we have to help them.

So Bush is right in not helping to stop the geoncide in Africa right now?

Oh Bullshit!!!!

They hate America because it is a RICH country, and it acts like one, too.

Look at how many Iranians that the Iraqis killed in the war between them and they don't seem to hate each other, now, do they?

...it is the richness and the condescending national attitude that makes America hated...
