Equality / Feminism / Feminazis
Recently we had a thread (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=9212) which took somewhat of a turn and wound up becoming more of a discussion/argument about equality, feminism, the inequalities between men and women, things like that.
Well, that thread (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=9212) was shut down, as that discussion properly belongs in another area. Namely, here.
So here it is. The new thread where you can argue, debate, rant, and generally unload your opinions on feminism and the rights of women as they are today.
Have fun.

Kristoff,
That is not the worst part of male to female sex changes...
...the worst part is when they remove half of your brain...

I thought that was just the blond ones... Oh, wait, I am blond -- er, was, when I had hair.

Aslong as you are holding that trimmer, I have nothing to say. --FLO--

Re: Equality / Feminism / Feminazis
On a serious note, recent science has discovered extensive, previously unknown, and not yet fully understood, differences between men and women. Especially, and surprisingly, different are the structures and functions of the brain. Apparently, men and women do similar things with dissimilar parts of their brains. All men use the same parts of their brains to do the same things, but all women use different brain tissues to do those things. Scientists are looking for the implications.
For most of human history, men and women were assumed to be different, though no one knew just how or why. What everyone knew were the clearly different social roles of each sex. Then, feminism popularized a new doctrine, saying that the sexes were identical, except for gross anatomy. Now, science refutes feminism (which even feminists were never comfortable with, on this idea of the interchangeability of men and women), without reviving the old sexual antagonism (which many people still cling to).
The trouble is that most people assume that when two things are different, one must be better than the other. That's why, in the popular press, people are always reaching for pseudo-scientific generalizations to confirm their feeling that one sex (usually their own) is the best. Not so! Things can just be different. Men are the "best" at being men. Women are the "best" at being women. People who ask which sex is better have to use a standard of evaluation that usually skews to one sex or the other. Given that men and women are born different, it's meaningless to judge one sex by asking how alike it is to the other.
What will become useful as it emerges is an objective understanding of who men and women are, so that we can value one another and live happily in a two-sexed world.

I would hope that we could have more than a two-sexed world, in addition to a multi-gendered one......

Speaking of the superior female sex, I'm not sure which I find more erotic:
A Feminist Nazi or card-carrying member of the Lesbian Sex Mafia.

Re: Equality / Feminism / Feminazis
OK, Kristoff, there's men; there's women; and there's me. I was too modest to say it out loud.
