"The Conqueror" is a mainstream film designed for a Chinese audience who know their history. While fictionalized, it is close enough to reality to not offend any sensibilities. Castration is discussed by the characters several times, but during the castrations of the young man and the boy, the camera focuses only on their faces.

On a similar note - I was wondering if the castrations in The Holy Mountain are implied or not?

In "Holy Mountain", they're pretty much implied. You don't actually see a set of genitals sliced off. There is a rather eloquent speech made by a general, however, about how honorable it is for a young soldier to be castrated for the good of his service. Still, it's a great film and quite the head trip.

There's scenes where Bruce Willis' character rips of his "other" weapon, I think maybe that was it.

I didn't see anyone mention the movie Penance.

It's a torture porn which apparently it features both voluntary penectomy and forced clitoridectomy. Other than "Antichrist", it's the only graphic depiction of clitorectomy I'm familiar with.

Has anyone seen the movie Duplex? Drew Barymore accidentally shoots her husband Ben Stiller in the hand and crotch. It is explained that he is okay because the bullet just nicked his scrotum. Then there is a great scene where Drew Barrymore asks if his "berries" are okay, and a sexy asian female doctor reaches down and checks.

Star Wars.

The follow-on sequels (The Phantom Menance, etc) had a castration subplot that was mildly veiled: cut off their hands. Every sequence you see that has a fight, ends with a death or a hand-cutting dismemberment.

You don't have too look too deep to realize that the unmanning of the warrior was to remove his hands, and probably Lucas went that direction to keep the film viewable by six-year-olds.

But it's pretty clear - this is a metaphor for nutting.

I just saw "Robin Hood", with Russell Crowe. Shortly after the first hour Cate Blanchett has this reply:

I sleep with a dagger.

If you so much as move to touch me, I will sever your manhood.

You understand?

Otherwise nothing special, but I liked this movie much. The lead actor is playing well and Cate Blanchett has a great way to be nice and strong at the same time.
