Re: The *ultimate* castration in motion pictures thread
I just finished watching the scene from First Transmission, and yes I have to agree that it is fake. From the very start the absence of a catheter gives it away. The short length of the surgery is also impossible even with a cautery pen (which they didn't have). You cannot stop bleeding from merely suturing the wound closed, which they evidently did. Everything else about the scene is also wrong, ie lack of asepsis and antisepsis, anesthesia, urethral relocation, etc.

You have to admit, tho, at first look you go "Holy Shit!"

You are right Paolo!
The fact that you know it is fake does NOT take away from the otherwise real looking scene that leaves you breathless...

This site rents and sells movies, but you can browse for free.
"The Conqueror" is a well done movie detailing the fall of The White Lotus Society in China.
The 'hero' is a young man (19?) who is castrated for showing cowardice in the face of the enemy - instead of being killed. Another subplot involves an 8 year old boy who is, by law, up for castration. Good subs and not a bad copy; overall, a good show that both Jesus and I enjoyed.
From Jesus' reviews:
Roughly based on Chinese history. Set at the end of the 1796-1804 White Lotus Rebellion against the Manchu/Qing Dynasty of China. The last rebel town is captured. Over 1000 fighting age men are executed by decapitation. All of the boys ages 8 through 15 are castrated. The women and the weak and aged (as well as the young boys) are sent into exile with instructions that all boys are to be castrated as soon as they reach 8 years old, as are to be any boys born to the exiled women. The goal is to completely exterminate the rebel group. The only survivor among the exiles is one woman who escapes and then gives birth to a son. The final line of the film is, “No historical records remain of Xiumei and her son. Her descendants may be living in our midst.” Mandarin, with English subtitles.

Are the castrations scenes implied or graphic?
