OWI = Operating While Intoxicated. Basically driving while drunk on alcohol. It's one step down from DWI (Driving While Intoxicated) which I would have gotten if they would have actually caught me while I was driving.

I agree -- and I think that's why I am so impressed with Tanglog's actions:

The flushing of the testicles demonstrates all five of those qualities.

Those strange clumps of what I assume to be the ends of spermatic cords have shrunken down a whole lot. Now they are smaller than my testes were and seem to be disappearing quickly. This is very happy-making.

Though one of my sutures fell out and I'm worried about an infection taking root. I suppose Sunday or Monday I'll go to the hospital to have it checked out -- I certainly don't want any complications after everything has gone so well.

Itching is a good sign. Very slight redness is to be ignored and expected, but a lot of deeper redness accompanied by any surface aches/pains is a sign of infection setting in. Such is the case with any stitched wound, wherever it may be. Especially if it's warm or even hot, like "locally feverish" to the touch. Some topical antibiotic cream will help, and perhaps a refill of the pills you should have had to begin with. Stay away from Bactine. Added lidocaine - doesn't sting anymore - BULLSHIT! They lie!

When I was 12 and had 13 stitches in my hand, they took them out after a week. Doc sprayed it with Bactine to wash it off - I peed all over his table, too...damn near passed out. Nasty stuff.

If you have access to a farm supply store, you can get a small pouch of Terramyacin or Auremyacin (sp?) powder and mix a paste out of it, too, to apply topically. It's gross, but it works.

The staff was very confused. Since I indicated I didn't want a sex change and wasn't suicidal they just couldn't seem to wrap their minds around it....I was specifically very surprised at how little pain was involved with the entire procedure after the urologist stitched me up. I expected to be laid up for a while in awful pain.

Congrats on your success. It's to bad you couldn't have planned the tying off of the cords as well and prevented even a moment in hospital, much less the 12 days.

While my attitude to pain is any is too much, I think you're correct to observe there isn't necessarily very much. My recollection from ~7 years ago is that I took one Tylenol 3 shortly after the second of 2 small wounds through which the testicles were excised was sutured and fell asleep. I woke up hungry and walked a few blocks to get something to eat. I felt a little bit of discomfort afterward, but not enough to require another pain killer.

I returned to work 2 days following.

BTW, I guess I wouldn't recommend as much activity as I did immediately following the orchiectomy procedure, nor returning to work so soon, but that's just what I do.
