Has anyone who has to suffer with Windows XP Pro ever noticed this?
When you are in a folder, and you delete a file, it shows that it is still there until you right click in the blank area and hit REFRESH? Only then does the deleted file go away? You drag a file into a new folder, and it shows as still there in the old folder? You make a new folder, and it shows as not there until you refresh? You name the new folder, hit ENTER, and it's still called "new folder" until you refresh?
Also, there is always a full recycle bin icon, and when you empty it, it says "Do you really want to delete Windows?" Opening the bin shows nothing in it. Half of the time, you can't even explore the Recycle bin - the system crashes.
Also, every single time you open a folder, Windows has to struggle and dig to come up with the icons that open files. For instance, JPG files...set to open with Photoshop. You sit and wait and wait for the little icon to come up next to each file name, because Windows can't remember what to open them with?
And don't even try to put 200 image files in one folder and then open it. You won't get it open.
I never had these problems with Win 2k pro. When you delete a file, it's gone. When you move one, it moves. When you arrange files by name, etc., they move. Not with XP! Not until you refresh 2 or 3 times can it get it right.
Just curious to know. This problem version HAS had all the updates, by the way.

Re: Windows XP Pro annoying folder behavior
I have XP Pro and have had none of those problems. The only problem I've had is with Outlook Express. When I send a message it stays in the outbox and sends it repeatedly if not deleted.

Re: Windows XP Pro annoying folder behavior
A realative of mine who is a free-lance fixer of people's computer problems agrees the XP is crap and says that "even computer magazines that have a natural tendency to push the new stuff discreetly say that Windows 2000 is far superior." This relative had himself installed XP and got so sick of it that he wrote off the expense and went back to Windows 2000 (for which he had fortunately saved the disk -- something he recommends to anyone tempted by XP or Vista.)

Re: Windows XP Pro annoying folder behavior
I have used for many years windows 2000. But this year i switch to XP, because some games required to (microsoft games
) Its slower then w2k, but it boots faster. But i dont have much other problems, i stripped alot out of XP so it almost looks same as w2k. Aslo you can kill about half of the services XP loads that you dont need. there is a nice webside about tweaking XP http://www.tweakxp.com (http://www.tweakxp.com/)
Use at own risk hehe.

Yes, it does. I used the Windows 2000 at my old job. I thought it was a better operating system. However, I have used XP Home Version for so long that it seems natural.
