Hornmones and Sensitivity to Cold.

Post by FianceeUvBigGuy (imported) »

Yoli here,

Still shivering and curious about something.

It's an accepted "fact" that we chiquitas seem to be more sensitive to cold temperatures than men are.

Now, can anyone, perhaps from personal experience, tell me if a eunuch is more sensitive to cold than he was BEFORE castration, especially if he has "settled in" to being a eunuch over a period of time?

I guess what I'm wondering about is if the presence of normal testosterone levels makes a difference in that regard v. low or non-existent levels.

"Yoli," I hear you say, "why do you ask?"

Well, Ash(leigh) and I flew to KC to meet BigGuy and his spouse (WOBG), they're both OU grads, and attend the Big 12 Conference Championship Game (Oklahoma v. Nebraska) at Arrowhead Stadium. It was COLD!!!.

BigGuy seemed to be comfortable but we three females were a little uncomfortable despite being dressed like Eskimos.

I was wishing that eunuch friend Barry had been there so as to ask HIM if he suffered as we did and if he thought he might not have if he still had his widdle ballsies.

Come to think of it, since he lives in Lubbock, he should be able to answer that!

Anyway, I was just curious.

Why in name of Gucci do the powers-that-be schedule this game in an open stadium at this time of year? Stooooooopid!

I could have etched glass with my nipples.

On the bright side, the BBQ in KC was wonderful, the folks were nice, and, best of all...

OU Sooners 21

Children of The Corn (Neb.) 7

Love to all, and please send blankets, 'cause it's freezing here in San Antonio too...*&%^$~!

PS: I was going make a sign to hold up when the camera was on us (and it was, three times! BigGuy must be catching it back at his Army post, LOL!) The sign was going to say "Eunuch Archive Rules!".

You can guess how far I got with THAT! BigGuy can wither grass with "that" look. Well, that's why he's a Colonel, I guess.

Y. (Y. not?)

EDIT! Re HorNmones in title...I was intending to make a catty remark about the Texas Longhorns being left out in the cold in the quest for the Big 12 title...totally forgot to do it! (Blush!)

I have noticed shivering as the major side effect with low t-levels. I never was sensitive to the cold to this degree before. Even rolling over in bed to where the sheets are colder will do it. Good thing I have a patient wife and live in a warmer climate.

Yolanda,

I have been chemically castrated for almost four years now. I take Androcur, which, unlike DP, works by blocking the effects of T, not reducing it. My T level is probably more or less normal.

I expected to have "hot flashes", but never did. However, I do find myself waking up at night shivering, even if only an arm is outside the covers. Curiously, I often find myself completely outside the covers. I have wondered if I had a hot flash without waking up, threw off the covers, and then got cold when the hot flash ended.

PS: I love your posts and your interest in castration.

Thanks for the kind words and the info...the quest for answers goes on.

Nicely,

Well, I grew up in Chicago and there was always the "battle of the thermostat" at home and work. The guys would like it in the upper 50s inside, the women the low 80s. For me, 80 and above gets uncomfortable, even in California where I live now. Although it has been pretty chilly out here the past few nights, dry too.

There's a number of factors that influence someone's senstitivity to temperature, engough so that it would be difficult to pin down just hormones.

Social norms play a surprisingly large role. I grew up in Philadelphia, where people whine their way through winter, and get outside all summer. I went to college in upstate New York, where people are out and about throughout the longer colder winter, and whine their way through the brief summer. And the Canadians a few miles across the line are outside, and swimming in Lake Ontario seemingly as soon as the ice breaks up. The New Yorkers won't swim until about the 4th of July.

I took an HVAC (Heating Ventelation & Air Conditioning) Design class as a senior, and the professor talked about people's seasonal climitization. You can typically vary your thermostat by 10 degrees F or more from winter to summer and still feel comftertable. Running the AC to cool the house down to 82 degrees in the summer sounds hot to a lot of people, but that time of year, you're typically acustomed to it. My professor said that the oddest example was high school showers - and he got the fewest complaints with the water temperature about 5 degrees warmer in the summer.

That said - some people seem to be born better adapted to the cold or the heat. Personally, I seem to have thin blood, with poor circulation to my hands and feet, so I'm cold sleeping in anything less than about 75 degrees. And I can assure you, I have a more than adequate supply of testosterone. I know plenty of genetic females that put up with a lot more cold exposure than I do.

Lee,

I have exactly the issues you describe. I am on Depo Porvera as well. I do believe that lower T levels affect your sensitivity to cold. No known Hot Flashes either.

Not sure if I have low T levels but I sleep under a big sheat of "rubber" with my blankets on top. Heavy but COZY. N3RF

Yoli,

My mother was a big woman and always hot, my dad, skinny and always cold. my ex, a big woman always cold. Me alway hot at any weight. Now having said that I have gained 60+ lbs in the last 5 years and I like the cold much better then the hot, which is a switch for me but then again a person will adapt to the local weather after a couple years. I live in cool and crisp wisconsin, set the heat to 66, its almost to hot. So I think the answer you are looking for is its part weather, part body, I dont think personal weight has anything to do with it.

Love, River
