Transdermal estrogen

Post by Tclosetgirl (imported) »

Anybody using Transdermal estrogen patches?

If so how are your results?

Any skin side effects?

I read that these are recommended for those over 40, such as myself.

Thanks,

Hi there ^^.

I am 21 years old and I have been using transdermal patches for about 6 months. I have definitely noticed quite a bit of improvement in my body. My figure has become more hour glass shaped and my boobs have grown ^^.

I have not really kept any actual records as to by how much my body has changed, but I have definitely lost muscle mass on my upper/overral body. I sort of have broad shoulders so the more I loose the better x__x.

Soon after beginning hormone therapy (about 2 to 3 months), there will be a nodule-like formation behind the nipple and a feeling of tenderness or sensitivity in the area. This early stage of development is caused by an increase in the ductal system behind the nipple is part of the transition process and will usually normalize in a matter of months.

This has already been happening to me, it started about one month ago. I believe it started later than mentioned on there because I began on a low level transdermal patch. I first started using herbal based compounds, then the lowest possible patch available for Estraderm, TTS 25mcg. After further reading about the patches on transgendercare.com (http://www.transgendercare.com/medical/ ... gimens.asp) I then moved on to 2 50 Mcg every 4 days as directed.

Patches do not always have good contact with the skin, so the increase in surface area of contact (i.e., 2 patches) provides more consistent results.

I used to use Spiro at 200 MG, divided dosages, per day but I moved down to 100 MG because a friend of mine said that was a high dosage; I also found out Spiro is a potassium saving drug so I thought it would be better to lower it and add DEPO.

Besides spiro I use Finpecia [1-2Mg Per day.] which is said to stop DHT

A powerful form of testosterone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), maintains the masculine state-even in very small quantities. Only anti-androgens (e.g., finasteride) can significantly deal with testosterone and DHT, giving the final outcome of a fully female body. Administration of finasteride 1mg decreases scalp and serum DHT concentrations, increased amounts of which are thought to be responsible for male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia)

Just recently I added 150MG DEPO every 30 days. I got to say that Even though I have been on spiro for about 6 months, when I took a shot of Depo I felt my sex drive drop noticeably; I am very pleased ^__^.

This makes me think injections are more effective than other forms of estrogens and anti-androgens.

Thanks,

I have use the transdermal patches with good results when I first started transition. They did give me some skin irritation and would fall off easily. When I found a doctor I was switched to an oral estrogen and IM injections.

Pros: Easy to use, lessens the chance of blood clotting vs. oral, desired results can be achived

Cons: Expensive, may cause skin irritation, can fall off easily in hot weather or in the shower

I guess I got a little side tracked from the questions, sorry ^^. What christina said about the pros and cons is correct ^^.

Thanks, that's about the same info I read on Ann Lawrences' site.

I've been on Estrofem about 11 months, way past the "Nodule" mode, and I'm finally at a full A cup, depending which measurement you use...the breasts are still tender and banging into doors is not a good idea :D

I too enjoy the hips and thighs look, I've grown 2 inches or more in the hips, started at 36.5 and am at 38.5 now, almost 39 actually.

I'd like to get to a full B cup now. I started just wanting A cups but well, I'm enjoying how I look and feel now. Hips would be nice to get to 41 or 42 but that may be unrealistic, I'd settle for 40 :)

OK Thanks, I will check out the cost on the patches, wish I could find a free sample to find out if I am going to have a skin irritation....

I used the patch. They stuck ok, but it's hard to get high enough doses (I'd have to wear about 4 of them to get as much estrogen as I need.) I like shots much better.

How much estrogen did you need exactly?. What was the size of the patches?. Estraderm TTS 25? 50? or 100?.

I used the Vivelle Dot .1mg patch, which is the same the the Estraderm 100. Again, though, I find the patches inconvenient. And the leave marks on your stomach when you take them off. I am not on injections right now, but will be starting again in January. Right now, I take Menest 2.5mg once a day. For shots, I use estradiol cypionate (Depo-Estradiol) 2mgs every two weeks.

My wife is considering HRT check out the Vivelle Dot they offer a free non drug "patch" to try to see if it sticks right and doesn't cause irritation on their web site.

Good luck!
