Avatars

Post by Paolo »

This version of VB seems to handle avatars differently than before.

After much reading and tweaking, I've come to the conclusion that your avatar must be less than 150 pixels wide and less than 200 pixels tall, otherwise, VB will resize it and resave it at the lowest possible quality - which has been rather obvious!

If you have uploaded an avatar lately, try it again. If it still turns into "blocks", send the original image to me and I'll fix it.

I was having this problem, I resaved the file as a bitmap and that fixed it. Just thought this might help someone else.

That will probably help a lot. BMP format cannot be compressed by VBulletin, as I understand it. JPG can. BMP file sizes are usually larger, though, and the software (while I increased the size allowed) may not accept them. If you size your avatar to 199 pixels tall, or 149 wide, whichever to maximize it, the VBulletin won't compress it.

See guys, Paolo can fix it. Our Paolo can fix anything, thus we needed him in Washington D.C. many years ago to fix our problems there.

I, for one, nominate Paolo to travel to our nation's capitol and "fix" all those politicans.

Our friend Paolo is free to "literally interpret" the word "fix" to whatever devious definition must possibly exist in his sinister "Dark Overlord" mind :)
