You are very young to make such a life changing decision.

Try making contact with 'The Fraj' who is frequently on this site.

He is not much older than you and was castrated some years ago. He is honest enough to say that there were issues that he did not think through and which have caused him some problems. Fortunately, with support from family and friends he seems to have adjusted and would be a good source of information for you.

I wish I knew a way to turn you... I would hate to be the one to point you in a foul direction. I wouldn’t saw its worth it to come all the way to the US, only because my tests results haven’t come back yet. I do have a deep down fear that the putrid place I excepted my fait in may lead to some ungodly disease or virus such as HIV, Hepatitis.

I must say aside from the surgery, everything is beautiful.

How long, as for the chemicals, and what affects have you experienced so far?

When you test drive the new car, you don't just cruise town with the radio on.

You try and burn off the tires, blow the speakers, and see if that 140 mph speedometer goes all the way up.

(Apologies if you've posted this data; I'm a bit behind.)

What I'm getting at is the test drive on chemical castration should last longer, so you will KNOW the full effect. If you're confident that you can live with it, only then should you proceed.

Whether chemical, surgical, or due to complications of disease, the effects of testosterone withdrawal are the same. The lifestyle change is the lifestyle change.

The big question is, do you want to make it permanent - or risk damage control with HRT later on if it turns out to be a mistake?

I wish you the best of luck- it is the first time I have ever heard of any Doctor in the NHS in the UK that was prepared to help in this way.

I should mention that the only route for most of us in the UK is the Belgium Clinic if you can afford the two thousand euro fee.

If this does come to pass, you will be the second Archive member I know of who has convinced the NHS to perform a voluntary castration. It certainly isn't easy. But, it isn't impossible either.

Nine more months on chemical castration will help you to decide if this is really right for you or not. Make certain that you do all of your homework on the long-term physiological effects. Read the thread "Consequences of Castration" on the Nonfiction Board for some brief life stories. Carefully read Phil's long thread detailing his experiences.

Make certain you know as much as possible before taking any irreversible step.
