starting Androcur

Post by astronomycat (imported) »

After years of thinking and looking I decided to go try androcur. I received it in the mail last week and have started taking 100mg per day. I haven't noticed any changes yet but I hope to soon.

Well if anything happens I might post an update, otherwise I will probably just go back to lurking.

Welcome to Eunuch Archive. And Welcome to the family. Please keep posting and let us know how you make out. I have been on Androcur for almost three years. During the first six months, I had the hot flashes but they never returned after that. Moving to 150 Mg. of Androcur really shrunk my testicles.

Good luck..

I've been taking spironolactone 200MG in divided dosages for the last few months and just started taking 2 MG Finasteride per day for about a month and I have defenetly seen some changes with erections. They can still happen but it seems that if I take 3 MG Finasteride they tend to happen much rarely. As for my body I have lost muscle mass and have developed a more defined Hour glass shape but I think that also happened because i am also on the estrogen patch.

I am glad to see you are strating down to the path, but don't give up if nothing happens right away. People seem to have found taking a high dose at first at then tapering to a maintenance dose is necessary in some cases. If 100 mg doesn't do it for you, some have taken 150 or even 200, but of course the more you take the more the risk, particularly without supervision.

The effects of my surgical castration started to kick in after several days. Notice how I said started. That is critical because you don't just wake up one morning with no libido and unable to get hard at all - it is a gradual process that is still working in me over a year later. Erectile function may diminsh more quickly, but libido is partially mental and in some cases never goes away completely.

Best of luck and I'd love to see an update regardless of what happens.

Well I have been on androcur for 10 days now and have taken 23 50mg pills. This morning my breast felt slightly puffy and tender. Is it normal for this to happen so soon. I had not expected to have this as the first noticeable effect for me.

I have thought about using Tamoxifen thought I should wait and see how things went first.

Even though I have been on my theraphy for a few months now I still seem to have an erection every 3 days or so > . >... I just wish it would stop doing that, it is just plain annoying ^ . ^;. Morning erections have surely gone down but I wish they would disappear completly. Last time I checked my weight was .. 168Lbs @ 5'11 Though i want to bring it down more if possible ^^.

update

Well breast development seems to have more or less stopped. The day it started I skipped a pill and by morning I was gone completely. I re-stared taking androcur the next day and it started again but only intermittently and seems to have leveled off.

I have been on 100mg on androcur but with this dose I have still had spontaneous erections, although I did not become fully erect, so I have decided to increase to 150mg.

I have also been considering switching to Spironolactone. I do not know if this is a good idea but it is cheaper, 300 tablets of 100mg for $109 for Spironolactone compared to 100 tablets of 50mg for $120 for Androcur, and it sound safer.

The reason I elected to go with Spironolactone is that it is probably the most benign of all the drugs that can be used to control testosterone.

Does anybody know what dose of Spironolactone would be equivalent to 150mg of Androcur?

Spiro is much cheaper than Andocur, but is it safer? Personally I would rather be on Androcur if I were not under medical supervision because of the real possibility of hyperkalemia on Spiro, which can be fatal. Androcur does have the risk of liver damage, but I personally would be more worried about Spiro.

If I had medical supervision, either one would be fine with me.

Spiro is usually used by the TG community. Many people agree that Androcur seems to be more effective than Spiro.

150mg Androcur is a powerful dose, so you will need an even more powerful dose of the weaker drug Spiro. This guess is completely uneducated and should not be followed without other consultation, but I'd say at minimum 200mg and probably more like 300.

TGs are able to make Spiro effective partially because of their use of estrogen along with it, which further suppresses the T.

Spirolactone is cheaper and a weaker compound, but, if you are not interested in breast groeth, you be wiser to continue with the androcur,as the spiro will promote breast growth. I've been on spiro for 9 months now and have developed breasts to just under an "A" cup, but, that's what I wanted anyway. I'm going to change back to the androcur as soon as my supply of spiro is depleted. I'm not acheiving a complete eunuch state with the spiro, but, all erections have deminished quit a bit, but, are still more than I want and my testicles have shrunk about 30%. Anyway, I would advise you to stay with the androcur for the time being and don't try to rush things,as they say, "All good things come to those who wait with patience".

When I first felt the breast development I felt a little nervous and shaky, but when the effect what away the next morning if felt let down. That morning I decided liked what I had felt and wanted more so I ordered estrogen patches as I started retaking androcur. Back on androcur the nervousness came back and was making it hard for me to sleep. I found an anti-stress green tea extract mentioned somewhere on this bored extract called L-Theanine and that seemed to help.

On Thursday November 2 the estrogen patches arrived and I started using them. The nervousness want away at this time. Now I have decided that I do not like patches so if I choose to continue I will be using a different method.

Since then I have been doing some sole searching. For a long time I have wanted to be a woman. I do not remember then it started but it was not until a few years that I realized just how strongly I felt about this. For a long time I felt that this was caused by something in my early childhood. You see when I was young my sisters used to dress me up as a girl, they called me Mindy. I do not remember what this felt like for me but I do know that I was a willing participant until I got caught with nail polish on in Kindergarten. Now I am just confused.

I have decided that I do not what to continue this without some professional help. I did some more research and I found out that there is a transsexual woman in my town that offers free initial consultations. I called her and left a message.
