I have noticed a lot of stories are turning up in German.

Could someone tell me what traslator to use that makes these stories readable in english please?

Try babel fish or google. there are a few others as well.

Babelfish. Unfortunately, most of these stories are of poor quality and lack basic spelling and grammar. In some cases it`s a torture to read them.

Can't speak to the quality of spelling and grammar with the German stories, as I do not speak it. Paolo was always good at screening those stories, as he read, wrote, and spoke German quite well.

Of Course, keep in mind that translators such as Babel Fish and Google are not all that great either, and do not pick up on idiom, local usage, nuance, and much of grammatical usage. They just line words up and match them in sequence....

Thanks for the replies, but whatever the reason, it is torture to try and read them with babblefish and google. Is there anything better than these two?

No there is not, xcept for one who is fluent in German

The most simple way is ... finding a german speaking member in this archive and activating him to translate. Of course I am a German and I would say a lot of these german stories are written in a good manner and style. Some stories are short and the way of making a new eunuch is described also too short: not enough place for my phantasy. But this will be just a personal preference.

Eine kurze Anmerkung in deutsch: Ich suche speziell nach Geschichten, wo der hier herrschende Feminismus stärker thematisiert wird, gezeigt wird, daß das männliche Geschlecht keine Chance in der Zukunft hat, quasi zum Untergang verurteilt ist. Wie die Poltik alles daran setzt, den Mann als menschliches Wesen auszugrenzen.

Y. The problem you refer to is not in most cases the original -- I say this as someone who works professionally as a translator from German to English -- but the machine translation. Despite decades of efforts, these programs still do a miserable job, which is why there is still a big demand for people (like myself) who translate "by hand". If you want to convince yourself of this, just type into Google a word that will get German language hits (say "Berlin") and select an article that has "translate this page" next to it. You'll see what a mess the English turns out to be, even if you can't read the original English to compare.

Well, I consider myself speaking German fluently. To be honest, I was surprised of the high quality of so many stories in this archives. I started reading them from the first time the archive went online. Compared with these stories most of the german stories are boring. I think, the reason is quite simple. If someone speaks english fluently he may write also in english or translate his german, french, spanish or whatever story. Therefore I did not criticize the german writers but some of the results that may mirror their educational background.
