emailing authors

Hi!

Thanks so much for working so hard to get the new story section up and running. I had a quck question. It's been great being able to return from classes, seeing friends or working and be able to relax by reading some of the new stories before starting homework. It was great timing getting the new story section up and running for the new school year!

Anyway, I was impressed by one of the stories that had recently been posted and wanted to tell the author that but wasn't sure how. I tried the "Email Author" button but it asked for authorization. I put in my screenname and password but it didn't work. I tried the post feedback link at the top of the page but it said that the page could not be found. I know that you are still in the process of reconfiguring the archive and such. I was just curious if I was doing something wrong or if this was an area that has not been fixed yet. Also, if that is the case, how would you suggest that I write to the author to give feedback on his work and such and let him know that his story was appreciated? Thanks in advance for your help!

While I cannot speak to the current state of progress in getting the story archive up and running again, I can point out a couple of things to you and others that will be helpful.

First, we do have a forum for feedback to authors. It would be a great way to give someone kudos, let others see it also, and also alert other readers to a potentially great story. Plus authors do love to get not only emails but they do appreciate posts of this nature.

Secondly, keep in mind that often email addresses attached to stories, especially those that have been here for any amount of time, go stale. Don't worry about the email in those cases, just post here.

Lastly, while folks have been avidly awaiting and no doubt now reading any new stories, keep in mind that we have in the vicinity of 7,000 stories posted. We have some fantastic authors here: go read some of their stories that have been here for some time; they're awesome. At the risk of slighting someone for failing to mention them:

Nathan - his gang series and Azyntion (sp) City series are special favorites.

Slammr - Anything he writes is always gonna be good.

Pueros - Prolific, does a wonderful job of tying in real history with wonderful twists

Paolo - Anything by our vacationing Evil Overlord is fantastic: HP and the Knife of Klingsor; XY-N; numerous others.

Androboy (aka David19) - Another awesome writer; his Shiprats (The Tribes) series is superb, as are several of his other series. Alas, I fear David is no longer with us, however, given his severe health and the fact that he hasn't been around in nearly 2 years. Cherish what he left us - fantastic.

Any others I have neglected to mention - apologies.

Read! And post comments and kudos!

Hi!

Thanks ever so much for your response. That sounds like a good idea. Yes, I have read many of the old stories and greatly enjoy them. There are some amazing writers that have helped to make the archive great. Has there been any thought to actually publish any of the stories professionally? Some of the stories are of such good quality that I really think that others might enjoy them. Anyway, I'll look for the forum that you mentioned. Thanks again Kristoff and have a good day. You have been a big help.
