If it's a regional thing, why would some work and some not work? As it is, half work and half don't. Weird.
There is no regional coding on home made recordings: it is purely a manufacturer's thing. So ignore my advice. (By the way Canada and all the rest of the Western Hemisphere is Region 1, like the U.S.)

All of this is Greek to me, though I am aware of the differences and I have a DVD player what plays different formats. I bought a copy of the movie LA Confidential. It would not play. I replaced it. The replacement copy did not play. It played for my friend Dan on his player. Sometimes, my DVD player, which is a high end product, will not initially detect a disc. I have to turm off the player and start over. I mention this to say only that sometimes life is complicated. Good luck with the recordings.
