Now I don't have the $100 minimum needed to open up a credit union account so this cycle of indebtedness goes on for another month.

Beginning to sound like the ole company store at the coal mining sites we read about. :(

cancel the account with wells fargo...get the check delivered to you and start over. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr If the ram was out there they would feel the horn.👹

Unhappily, the bank is well within their rights to do what they are doing. there are no laws or regulations to restrict what fees a bank may charge. Wells-Fargo might not let you cancel your account if they think that you will owe them money when it is cancelled. For even more bad news they might want to start charging a fee just to keep the account open. You need to go o the sleaziest TV station in town and offer them the story of how the bank has taken advantage of an old, confused, disadvantaged citizen (you). You also need to have social security stop sending your money to that bank and at the same time make a complaint that the bank is stealing funds from you. Also, it is time to complain to the state/county agency that oversees protection of vulnerable seniors for, in this case, that is what you are. AARP will help you with this process (they may even have a local chapter). Taking advantage of vulnerable seniors is a crime. Wells-Fargo has no interest in sortin out the situation, their only interest is in grabbing as much money as possible. Pressure must be brought against them if any resolution is to be expected. --FLO--

Because of upcoming legislation, banks and credit cards are grabbing as much as they can, before the legislation takes place. They are raising rates and declining to waive fees, trying to get all they can before then.

A friend is sending me $106. As soon as it arrives I'm going to Credit Union to open up an account :) It will be plenty of time to change over my Social Security checks from WFB to Credit Union :)

Dont count on lots of time... getting stuff like routing numbers changed with SSA can sometimes take weeks.

And you must be the one to call SS to have the new routing number changed, I would call SS the day you get your new account.

Sorry Mac, that you’re having so much trouble with WFB I have a friend that had the same problem with them to the point they were taking about $2,000.00 not kidding just for ding fees, This was half of his check. ( he’s crazy) , A Disabled Vietnam Vet. Dependent on pain killers and WFB just takes advantage of him.

I'm Glad to here you’re able to change banks hang in there.

:realpisse You know they lay awake at night just thinking how to stick it to people, I hope the government just regulates the hell out of them….

I now have a Credit Union account and I'm calling Social Security now to get direct deposit to Credit Union and NOT Wells Fargo.

I changed my direct deposit to go to my Credit Union and not to rotten Wells Fargo - woo hoo
